I have a couple dogs and they are soooo different. One dog will bark if she hears something that sounds like the door bell on TV and my other dog will bark if she hears dogs barking on TV. ha ha I can't help but wonder if poor Lilly is getting mixed messages. Oh! And I wonder even more if she would be very upset if I put on 101 Dalmatians. ha ha So, is there something that makes your dog bark that comes on TV?

LOL Our dog barks when she hears dogs on TV, when she hears dogs outside, when people wlak by with dogs, even if they don't bark, she'll bark at everything!!!

Well I don't have dogs, but cats, but even I can relate to this with my cats. Years ago for instance, I used to have two cats, Willie and Bobbity that seemed to go bonkers if THEY heard a dog barking on TV, and would especially run up to the TV whenever that kids show,Wishbone was on...I would break out in hysterics since both tried to "chase" the dog--My two cats now aren't affected by dogs barking on TV, but yikes, if I'm watching something on TV or especially the computer and a cat is meowing..forget it!! MMmmm I wonder what would happen if I put on 101 Dalmations..or better yet Cat From Outer Space??

That is so funny you mentioned 101 Dalmatians. That was my oldest child's favorite movie and my pug's most hated movie. My oldest watched it a couple of times a day and every time a dog barked, yes my pug charged the TV full force. What was so funny is she was an old dog and so just wanted to take a nap. It was awful hard on her. Finally I felt sorry for the poor thing and would put her in my bedroom to sleep and turn the TV way down low. By that point my little girl knew the dialog by heart and really didn't need the volume any way. My pug past a few years ago, but still to this day when my girls watch that movie, I waite for her to come running at that TV.

Aww...I am sorry for your loss. I know when I do loose my dogs, it will be felt deeply. But it is also those wonderful memories that get us to smile again. Thank you for sharing. :)

Mine howl more than bark. We can expect a nice loud greeting whenever someone pulls into the yard. They'll also howl if some of the local dogs are howling. If they hear barking or howling on TV they just look at it funny & try to figure out how the wolf is trapped in that strange box.

Hi Brokentia, I have two dogs that are brothers from the same litter and they couldnt be more different also. One is always looking out the window and barking whenever someone is walking down the street and pays no attention to whats going on tv. The other one is always watching tv and whenever theres a dog on there he runs up to the tv as if to bite the dog on tv. especially if the dog barks that really gets his attention. We kind of have to watch him to make sure he dosent damage the tv screen. Take care, Terry

He does every now and then. If I watch Animal Precinct or something like that, he tends to acknowledge the animals on the screen. Reacting, whimpering. Sometimes he licks the screen when there's a particularly bad case. It's SO cute. Though I try to keep him from licking the TV.

Yes my dog sometimes does. It all depends on how loud it is and what type of bark. LOL.

Yeah, on the tv or the radio, she'll tilt her head, look out the window, maybe bark once, but she'll realize she's being duped pretty fast, lol. It's fun to watch though!

I have two dogs as well. The older one won't bark unless she see's someone walking by that's close to our property, or another dog near by that she doesn't know. Now my younger one will bark at anything. She will hear a dog bark on tv and start barking back as if she's trying to talk to the other dog. Certain sounds, she will tilt her head as if she's trying to make out where it's coming from. Her expressions are a hoot sometimes that I can't help from laughing and then she looks at me like what are you laughing at. Ugh, now she wants me to take her out. I pray she doesn't bark at the smallest thing outside.

my pup'll bark if my girl's barking, and my girl barks at 2 things on tv, someone knocking at a door (we don't have a door bell thank god) and birds, i don't know why but she does :P it's insane sometimes, i have to turn it down or right off, and i can't watch my nature shows or listen to nature music with her around, kinda sucks.

I USED to have a dog that would have fits if there were barking on TV... I'd have to turn off the sound to get her to stop. To really get her going, there were a couple of songs with barking dogs on a Christmas CD I once had, and she'd practically be hysterical for the entire 3-4 minutes of the song. My current dog doesn't even notice barking on TV, or in the neighborhood around the house.

Not only does she bark, she runs around the house looking for the other dog. I put her in front of the tv to show her where it is coming from and she looks at me as if to say, "Yeah, Right!!!" When the doorbell rings? Fughetaboutit! She runs to the door yelping, bowing down with her butt in the air and her tail awaggin'. This time she seems to be saying, "Company!! WooHoo!" PEACE

lol how cute! Our new pup doesn't bark at the tv. But sometimes (whether it be a dog barking, traffic noise on tv or any particular sound) she will go close to the tv, look down at the speakers and keep tilting her head back and forth whenever the sound reappaears or changes. It's so cute! I love when dogs tilit their heads! :)

Yeah! I think they just look so cute being confused! lol. I love it when she does that, and shes only about 8 months old so she does it a lot! lol. She is a sweety! My cat also watches tv. He'll sit on a leg rest from our couch while I'm watching tv and just sit there watching it with me.

Hi brokentia! Our half breed mongrel usually bark whenever our pit bull barks. Our pit bull always bark when he hears the doorbell, knocking on doors, phone ringing on the tv and if he sees dancing on tv. And our other dog just follow or imitate what our pit bull is doing. Take care and have a nice day!

LOL no my dogs dont bark at the tv but they do run up to it with their ears perked and their eyes wide trying to figure out where how to get to the source of the sound LOL I have heard RayRay (my female dog) whimper at the screen when she hears an animal on tv though but usually they stare at the tv all quizical and then run back and forth from the tv to the front door then the back door then back to the tv....Sometimes just for kicks I'll rewind the tv repeatedly just for my own sick amusement too LOL

Believe it or not, my dog doesn't usually bark when a TV dog barks. But let there be a doorbell on the TV or a knocking noice that sounds like a knock on a door and he will bark for 30 minutes!!! Also extremely high pitched sounds like on some music (techno) will cause him to bark. (I think that this hurts his ears). Our oven has a little sound it makes when one sets it to preheat...that sound drives the dog nuts!!! Yet, when our microwave beeps to signal that the cook time has ended, that doesn't bother him! Must be the difference in pitch of the sounds!

When our dog was alive, every time she saw a dog on Tv she'd bark and try to get at it. It did not matter if it barked. It happened so much, that I thought of getting VHS's of "Lassie," "Lassie Come Home." and "Greyfrier's Bobbie," or the old Rin Tin Tin or Lassie Tv series so she would have something to watch while we were busy.

yes. My dog does it too. It simply barks all the time when it sees another dog in TV, but not when it sees in real. Strange!! I dont know if it can understand the barkings of another dog in a TV. Anyway, as long its healthy, i dont mind.

I have two dogs and they don't belong to the same kind (if you know what i mean). The male is very quiet, isn't barking all the time, he doest it mostly when he want do draw attention, but the female, can't hear anythig, people, door bell, sometimes we don't hear the door bell and we know something happened thanks to her. One day i was watchin Eight Below videos in the net and she started barking bc she hear the dogs

most of our dogs (i think 6 total dogs) live outside so they cannot hear the television but the one that comes inside never does that...probably because she is really old
