Why is peanut butter so hard to clean up?

Tonight my daughter was having some peanut butter as a snack and it ended up getting everywhere. Not only did it turn out to be sticky, it was really messy too. Who knew peanut butter could be so tough to clean off a little kid's face?
Why is peanut butter so difficult to clean up? And, what should one use to clean it up off of face and clothes? Would love some suggestions, cause all I could think to use was plain water and that didn't work well.

LOL! That's too funny! And, here I am complaining about a little peanut butter on the little girl's clothes. I must be one lucky mommy to have such a neat child. You know it would be worse if she were a boy. As is, she can't stand being messy or having messy clothes or face. I remember my brothers growing up, and they could have cared less about being neat and clean. I swear if my mom had let them, they would have gone around with peanut butter plastered on their faces for days and not even noticed it. Thank heavens for moms and little girls! We're the only ones keeping this world clean and organized.

Peanut butter is a mess isn’t it! I just use hot soapy water to get it off the counters and the floor if it happens to fall there- How about baby wipes-?? For the face- or a warm washcloth- I would suggest- I always will rinse clothes off if they are soiled like this- usually rinsing it and then putting detergent on it- takes the PB out of the clothes too.

I hate how messy peanut butter is! My son loves peanut butter, so he eats it at least once a week.
Usually I just use a baby wipe to get it off of his hands and face. I wipe his clothes with a baby wipe, too. And then throw them in the washer. The baby wipes usually help keep the clothes from staining. And I am always washing his hands and face with baby wipes.
Baby wipes can get just about anything off of my son's skin! Most things come out of his clothes, too. As long as I use the baby wipe before the stuff has had time to set in, and then throw the clothes in the washer. they rarely stain.

peanut butter has oil and that is the reason why it is too hard to clean it up. when my kids are just toodlers i clean their messy face with a small towel, i wet it and out a little soap. then wipe it again with another towel.
