If a person is depressed, usually things that they used to do and have fun doing don't interest them anymore. They might have different emotions (one minute happy and the next sad). Just a person who is in a constant funk I believe it's for more than 2 weeks straight. It really isn't a lot you can do for someone who is depressed if they don't want to talk about it. You just make sure that they know that you are there for them when they do need you and want to talk. I think i go through bouts of depression where I just want to be alone to think about what direction I want to go next.

Hi katkat, There are no definite symptoms of depression. But it is easy to notice a person who is depressed. Many times, you pity yourself (self-pity), being negative to many things though they seem alright. You are easily irritated, and your face shows you're not happy. But why dwell on the symptoms and not on the solution. Honestly, right now, is there something that trouble you? Is your family had some problem? Did somebody hurt you? Friends, a lover? Do you have a problem with your work? With your health? Is it relationships? I can sense deep down in your heart, you have some heartache. Or Deep down in your heart, you have a friend that is hurting, and you're trying to help. There's only one cure - CHRIST. Hey, Only Jesus Christ is the answer! No other else. Why not accept Him into your life?Receive Him as your personal Savior and Lord, and unload that burden in your heart! It's too heavy for you. there's someone who says, "Come to me all ye that are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

I think everyone has pretty much got it covered as far as mood changes go. Yes, it is easy to tell when someone is depressed because they simply aren't themselves. Some people tend to hide what they are feeling inside, but usually the facade breaks down at some point and you can tell, especially if they are withdrawing. I know it is hard to know what to do with them. Sometimes, just simply asking, 'Is there something you want to talk about?" will get the ball rolling as far as helping them. Sometimes it is just listening without talking and other times it is a simple hug. It just depends if that person is a 'huggy' type of person :) Even simply knowing someone cares can help a person a great deal. I wish you luck with your friend and hope he/she gets to feeling better soon.

Here are some signs of depression: Persistent sad, anxious, or "empty" mood Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed more. But there are physical symptoms as well, like body aches, being very tired, lethargy and those are all that I can think of.

Some of the signs of depression seem to be, excessive crying, sleeping a lot, or not at all, eating less. If a person goes from a fun loving person to someone who stays by themselves more and more, this is a good sign. Lack of happy thoughts and excessive thoughts of gloom. Depression hits people in many different ways, sometimes we are just sad and not depressed, but if it goes on for a long time, they should be seen by a doctor. Depression can be maintained with medications and talking to someone.

Most time, its my work..with ontime deliveries and work loads. I try to divert mind on music and i feel better. We need to manage depression, as it is part of life in busy world. But if we concentrate, we can manage it. I does it through my yoga, listening music and going out on vacation.
