This was a really great coincidence! Here's the short version of Part 1 for those who missed my first discussion...My 9 year old son was at a fair with his dad last night. A teenager was trying to run from the security guards and tripped over my son, him falling gave the security guards the time to catch up to him. My son was proud that he helped catch the "bad guy" even if it was an accident. My son's leg got bruised up but he is fine.
So part 2 of this story...I had to go to town for groceries. The teenager that is now living with us came with me to help with the baby (he hasn't gotten a job yet so he's doing everything he can to help out with everyday stuff) Anyway as we were leaving the store a truck pulled up and the guys started talking to him. They knew him from when he lived near them. The guy driving then told him that he'd spent last night in jail because he'd been drinking and got into a fight at the fair. He went on to say that he tried to run from the security guards BUT tripped over and hurt a little boy! So the kid living with us told him it was my son that he tripped over. He got out of his truck and came over to APOLOGIZE to me! He told me that he knows he was being stupid and has been so worried about the little boy he knocked down. He also said that he spent the night in jail and is only out on bail. He knows that he's going to be sentenced to more jail time over this and that he deserves it. He said the drinking and fighting was stupid enough but when he realized he hurt a little boy over his stupidity it felt the worst thing he's ever done and asked me to tell my son how sorry he was. He was very matter of fact when he said that he deserved to go to jail over this.
Now I realize he could have just been blowing smoke since he knows my son is talking to the police tomorrow but...I don't know...either he was being sincere or he's the best liar I've ever met. He really did look like he meant everything he said.
I just thought this was such an amazing coincidence and wanted to share it with you all!

I am so glad your son it okay and that he helped catch this guy without being seriously injured. I am curious to the truth of this young mans statement to you. I wonder if it is part of a lesser sentence if he did say he was sorry. I wonder if he thinks the jugde will lighten his sentence once the judge finds out that he did apologize to you. I do hope he was telling you the truth and not just blowing smoke..

Wow that really is a coincidence and weather or not he was telling the truth ( which you may never know for sure ) will be exciting for your son in thinking that he might have made a difference in somone's life as it is possible this guy does feel sincere in being sorry that he might chance his life style when he gets out because of how bad he feels about hurting a child . And it was decent of him to offer an apology as he didn't have to do this as he could have just driven away which makes it look a little more like he might have been telling the truth . Either way it was an experience that neither you or you son will forget and shows that you never know what can happen when you go out for the day . Your son may have changed this man's life for the better and what a wondeful experience and feeling for him .
