What time do you send your kids to bed and are you flexible with it on the weekend? I send my 8 year old to bed for 9pm, but on the weekend, i let her stay up til 11 or 12. what happens is that she's so irritable come sunday she can't stand herself. Should i make her go to be for 9pm everynight? What time to you send your kids to bed and how does it affect them if they stay up later than that?

Our daughter is nine. She goes to bed at 8:30 on school nights and around 9 or 9:30 on the weekends. We used to let her stay up later on weekends but she was still getting up early and was crabby so we had to stop that. Usually in the winter she will go to bed even earlier probably around 8 pm once it is dark out she gets crabby. i'm hoping she will outgrow this.

She is so crabby that i can't even have a consversation with her. I think i will enforce an earlier bedtime. Thanks for the response

I put my kids to bed at 8pm, but I read with my daughter for about 20 minutes to wind her down. And on the weekends I will let her stay up until 9pm or lay in her bed and watch a movie at 8. SO she is getting to stay up later but nothing drastic. I think the 3-4 hour difference that your daughter is getting on the weekends makes it too hard to adjust once the school week starts over again. During the Summer I would say that is okay but not during the regular school year.

Yeah, she does have an extended bedtime during summer. I think the difference on the weekend is making a big impact. Thanks for the response
