What is it that attracted you to read? Was there someone in your wife that encouraged you to read? How old were you when you first started to read and what books/authors did you enjoy reading then? Has your reading preferences changed over the years? Do you have a specific genre that you prefer? Who are some of the authors that you follow? How many books/magazines/journals do you read in a month? I started reading by the age of 4-5. My preference then was the Dr seuss books and Curious George, until now I enjoy reading these books to my nephews and nieces. My parents influenced me to love reading. They didn't mind at all how much i spent on books. The school i attended also provided an environment that encouraged reading, we'd actually have library period every week. When I didnt have anything else to read, i started reading the encyclopedia from cover to cover, even dwelt on some of my mom's medical books. But mostly as a teen, it was Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, Archie comics, Beverly Cleary and eventually sweet Valley High. Right now my reading habits haven't changed, am still a voracious reader, though I used to speed read, I can't read as fast now. Not because I do not enjoy it but because of my limited attention span at the moment. My favorites are still detective/murder stories, especially related to some medical content, like Robin Cook, Patricia Cornwell, Tess gerritsen, Charles Wilson. Others I like are Chrichton, Grisham, Robert Walker, James Patterson, Keith Ablow to name a few. I don't read romance novels as much, only one I followed some was Harold Robbins. Nora Roberts I like when she writes as JD Robb. A lot of my time though presently and reading medical research journals. I want to keep upto date with the latest treatments esp for mental illness, s I suffer from it and my psychiatrist and i hven't managed to find the right combination of meds and psychotherapy for me. I also help him out with some of his lectures. Overall, reading is a BIG part of who I mm. When I go to the bookstore, i get lost for hours upon hours just like a kid in a to store. LOL! I get lost at the toy store as well.

As a kid I read the mystery series of books including Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden and the Bobbsey Twins. I continue to enjoy mysteries especially by Ed McBain and Lawrence Sanders. I read teen coming of age books as a teenager and prefer general women's fiction to romance. I don't much care for the real Harlequin type romance stories. I do like romance but I want more of a storyline than just the relationship. My husband doesn't read at all. My father was a voracious reader and he was the one that turned my mother to reading. When he was away in the Air Force he ordered books and then sent them home to my mom. I have to avoid bookstores because I could go crazy spending money in there. I have enough books waiting to be read here at home that I don't need to be bringing anymore in.

I don't stick to a particular author as I would be bored after awhile. I tend to look for something new in the bookstore everytime. I prefer travel writings these days before then I get to travel with them mentally and to escape from the real world for awhile. I used to love detective stories and I think I would get back to them after I finish the travel writings.

Hi & Hello, candy111 (85); I like reading science discovery materials. But now as its all avail on internet, so my reading patterns now change or move to online material and no longer offline. Online provides more choices and categories. Bye for now. The Little Me, Michael.

Yes, the multitude of resources over the internet has dragged me away from offline reading as well, but I still make sure to read books outside the internet once in a while, i find it easier to understand actual textbooks compared to e-books. But definitely when I want to stay ahead and learn of the new researches coming out especially in the medical field, the internet has definitely become a vast resource that no single bookstore or library can match.
