Everyone's been there but me!

Do you ever feel like everyone you know has been to a vacation spot EXCEPT you? Ok, here are some examples. Living in MI means almost everyone I know has been to Mackinaw Island. EVERYONE I talk to. Up until 2005, I was the only person I knew who hadn't been to Chicago! And now I'm finally going to Vegas next month and I swear that almost everyone I know (at least the people who have an ok paycheck) has been to Vegas. Is it that everyone in MI thinks to vacation in the same spots? Is it because everyone in MI goes to Mackinaw Island or Chicago b/c it's close and therefore cheap? I know why I want to go to Vegas and I think it's the same reason everyone in MI does - b/c it's warm, and provides a glitz and glamour that MI does not have! So, in your state, do you feel like there's a place EVERYONE goes to on vacation? Have you been there yet or are you feeling left out? It's hard when a dozen or more people try to give you advice for your vacation b/c they all have their fav spots or their great ideas. I take all ideas and then pick my favorites :) So what are your thoughts?

LOL I've been to Mackinaw Island but it was yeeeeears ago. I was .... 11, I think? Maybe 12 or 13? I can't remember. I'll be 35 next week, so I can't remember back that far. lol It was a family vacation. I've been BY Las Vegas (literally could see the strip from the road) but never stopped. When we lived in California and drove home to Indiana for vacation it was over 40 hours each way, so we didn't stop any more than we had to, so I've never actually "been" to Vegas, either. :) Seems like everyone else I know has, though. :) I've never been to Chicago, either. Or DC (we're only about a 3 hour drive from there now). Or New York. We're only about 35 minutes from Williamsburg and the only reason we went was because my parents paid. lol We just don't get out much. Don't have the money and don't have the patients for tourists. :)

las vegas strip - sept 2007
Well now I can say I've been to Las Vegas!!! Yay:) I've been to Chicago, went in 2005 for the first time even though so many people had been there before me. I've actually been to DC now that you mention it, we went when I was a kid so I hardly remember much - except the changing of the gaurds and JFKs flame that never goes out. Oh, and I went to NY with the band/color guard in high school :) So I guess I've been around, even though people I know have been around so much more than me! I'm trying to catch up though - but you are right, it is pricy! We are done with vacations until next May!

Europe. Everyone has been. Even people I know who don't travel that often have been and yet I haven't. I haven't been out of the country at all. It's not that I wouldn't love to go, I would but I just don't know when DH and I will ever find the money to afford it.

I've never been out of the country (not counting Canada), but on my side of the fence most ppl I know haven't been either. So that one I can live without :) However now I'm going to Vegas in a week and I can't wait! I can finally see what EVERYONE is talking about. 3 people at work have been this month, isn't that crazy? Even the guy on my favorite radio station just got back.

When everyone goes on vacation, who looks after the town. That is a joke. Probably one is not in a mood, one may be having a problem of cash, or one may have so much of work, doing work is a priority. There could be scores of reasons for not doing what others are doing.

If it is any help, I haven't been to Mackinaw Island since I was a kid. I have never been to Chicago, and I have never been to Vegas.
