Your coworker threatened you with physical harm? Your coworker was doing illegal drugs on the job? If not, why not?

It depends, if you think you can do that without them will suspect you of something. I want to do that but if they will hurt me physical that is a different thing. Maybe i will send an email on a tv program that investigate illegal doings, and they will investigate on their own. I will just give a complete detail so it will be a successful one. Atleast on email they don't know who it is. I wished the tv program will believed me if that happens.

If a coworker threatened me with physical harm, I would tell the boss if I felt I was really in danger. I've heard all too often about workplace shootings over something very minor. I have had coworkers who smoked weed on their lunch break. I didn't say anything about it except for once, I told the office manager, who used to also smoke at lunch time, because one of the girls was so obviously stoned that I thought one of the customers would notice. I didn't want to get anyone in trouble, and that girl didn't, but the manager kept an eye on her after that, and would have her go in the back to do some chores if she was too stoned after lunch. The funny thing was, the boss thought I was high, but I wasn't. Everyone else was. I was so outnumbered. I could have never smoked and tried to work, I don't know how they all did it.

I would tell my boss in both cases. In the first, I could not perform my job sufficiently and if I could make sure I had a microcassette recorder, then I would be able to show evidence because I am sure that if someone was making threats, they would make sure me and he were alone. In the second case, the person would be a danger, not only if I worked around machinery and he might accidentally lean against a button and push it, cutting my arm off, but scumbag and criminal types might decide to muscle in and take over the business.

No I wouldn't tell the boss. I would deal with it internally amongst the staff,we have a way of dealing with people like that. We are union members and the management are our enemies so we would deal with it ourselves first and if all else failed we may talk to one of the lowlifes up front.

I was never one for telling. I can deal with my own issues.

well it's the boss' responsability to keep peace and order at work...and if someone doesn't let me do my work properly, my boss will growl at me, so i'd demand the boss to solve the situation unless he or she wants me not to be efficient anymore. This doesn't mean that you have to be a whiny boy who complains about everything...adults must solve their own stuff, but if i felt it was serious enough, i'd tell him or her. About illegal substances, i am not sure..but if doing that was dangerous for the coworker him/hreself, or for the customers, or for the rest of his her workmates, i would.

I would tell my boss. No one can work comfortably in that type of work environment. We had a guy at work that threatened to throw someone over the balcony off the 5th floor. He said it in front of people...they told the manager...and he was fired asap. They had to get a security guard for a few weeks just to be on the safe side...but someone should tell in that situation for sure.
