Islam or Christianity?

Islam and Christianity are mutually exclusive. Islam claims to be the true religion whereas Christianity also claims the same thing. Which one do you think is right? Give reasons. I request each member to discuss and debate with due respect for each other. Please do not hit below the belt.

Can you kindly elaborate why you think so? There must be reasons why you think that way.

if I thought either was the right religion, that would be the one I followed. I don't agree with any of the monotheistic religions. while I would never say there is no element in truth in either, there is no one religion that has the full story. and naturally I think my own is the most accurate, but still nothing more than my own best idea of it. still not the full story.

Honestly? Neither of them are right but at the same time neither of them are wrong either..ALL religions/spiritual paths including Islam and Christianity are right, valid and true..for someone...but there is no such thing as ONE (sole) right, valid and true religion for everyone...

Thanks for the comment. But if we follow the law of logic, both may be wrong but both cannot be true. Because both claims to be exclusive.

I am a Muslim. I personally believe in Islam and I think this is the only religion in the world that is true and proven to be true. The tangible proof is the Al-Quran. It has been given by Allah (The God) to prophet Muhammad centuries ago. Until now the contents of Al-Quran has not changed, not even a little bit. Nobody ever had been successful to alter the content or maybe nobody had even thought of altering it because it is already so complete and true. This is a magical thing to me, because if we see even the Bible's content has been altered. There are no longer the original content of Bible available now. That's my point of view. Thanks.

Neither? I don't follow either of those religions, so I suppose that would be the easy answer for me. I don't particularly claim to know if the deities that are part of that religion exist or not, because it's not my religion. *shrugs* I suppose I would say that either of those religions could be the right one for a particular person if it caused them to be a better person, and could be the wrong one for that person if it caused them be a worse person. That's pretty much how I think of it, that each person has a particular path that is right for them, and if they are on it, they will be a good person. My path doesn't happen to include either of these religions, so I can't really judge them. I have read about both, and have friends of both religions, and for each of my friends their religion is a positive influence on their life. So I can't say one religion is better than the other.

Islam is the true religion. The content of the Quran has not change for the past 1000 years. I f you look into other holy book, almost or part of the content has been changed by the hands of human. Even bible has not been spared. This claimed has been proved true by the experts. Actually Islam and Christian believe the same God.The same prophets(Isa/Jesus, Musa/Moses, Daud/David, Yusof/Joseph, Adam/Adam, Sulaiman/Solomon. The same angel. Followers of Islam believe that Isa(or Jesus)don't die, intead they he was brought to the heaven.

For the time being I cant give you detail and hard evidence on where you can find the reference. I think you have to do research on your own Actually the scripts of Quran verses which dates back to hundreds of years ago are being kept by numerous museums around Europe countries. This happened when the Europeans(by Crusade War)invaded countries in the Middle East, they brought back highly valuable materials including books, research journals by the Islamic scientist and scholars to the Europe, including the verses of Quran. In early centuries it was kept by the Vatican, and then removed to the museums. The experts make comparison between the current content of the verses and the ones that dated back hundreds of years ago, and found that the meaning and the structure of the verses haven't been change.Even the total numbers of sentences through out the Quran has not been changed. The verses have been carbon-tested to be original. If you remember, and by searching in Yahoo or other online news and current affair, a civil court case of Sultan of Brunei versus an Australian company which the later claimed that the Sultan has broken his promise to purchase the ancient Miniature Quran worth million of dollars. That Quran has been proved to be hundreds of years old. And that pal,is just tip of what I could explain. There is so much to explain and to be discovered if I and you do the research. I pray to the Almighty Allah may you succes in searching for the truth and knowledge. God bless you and have a good day a head.

I'm a Christian and I think the issue of being the true religion is not important as long as we believed that God do exist.

I wish all countries would be tolerant of all religions. I think some countries are not tolerant of other religions. They even kill people who convert to other religion. I think we should learn to respect and love other people even though their religious belief may be very wrong. To such people we should tell in love that what they believe is wrong. That would involve rational discussion.

I believe that both are the true path for some people. There are good in both and they are both good paths. They are similar but different. It all depends on what you can live by.

Dear headhunter, Dont hunt the heads, all religions are same in principle. But the people are fighting each other in the name of religion. All religions are the creations of the men. God never created a religion

This is probably the most intelligantly debated thread Ive ever seen on mylot, this is an excelent discussion. I have seen people argue that the Quran is the most acurate because it is the only unchanged and most recent religious docuiment around. If this is the case and that is how we are to judge a religions authenticity, then the honor would go to the book of morman, written only about 150 years ago and in the same language it apears in today, absolutely unchanged and untransaletd. So I don't think that age itself is an acurate measure of a religions validity. I think "god" speaks to people in different ways. God apears and appeals to people in ways that they as an individual can understand. I think budism is more a philosphy rather than a religion because of the lack of dietistic characteristics. When one reads the bible and puts it in to modern context, what emerges could almost be interpreted as science in some cases. Take the ark of the covenant. If one builds such an item today, in exact specifications as the bible presents, what you get is a giant elctrolitic capacitor that is capable of storing a charge of hundreds of thousand of volts, that would instantly kill anyone who touches it, it would also, under the right conditions, pick up magnetic and radio signals. Interesting note number 2. In the story of Saddam and Gamora, it is said that Lot's wife is turned in to a pillar of salt upon turning back towards the burning city. The original language of the bible, and some christians argue to the contrary though, is Sumarian. The word for "salt" in sumarian is also the same word used for "vapor" So which makes more sense? Is it possible the city could have been the result of a nuclear blast of sorts? and lots wife was turned not into salt but was vaporized? when one looks at the location of the city on a satelite shot, one sees a blackened earth and it is repleat with a glassy type of sand found around nuclear tests sites. It is also reported that there are micro traces of radiation in the area. I think what we have is the potential that we may all be wrong and are right at the same time, as we are interpreting what we could not understand given the knowlage available at the time of writing of the holy books. If we landed on a remote island in a hellecoptor and encountered a primitive tribe that had never seen a modern person and was isolated from the modern world, how would they record the event? they certainly wouldn't write, "men came dowen in a hellecoptor". they would use reference to terms and things they understood and knew. Describing the hellecoptor as a great roaring bird or such. My 2 cents.

Thanks a lot for the comment. I also think to judge a book right or wrong on the basis of the age is not a strong argument. I have heard Hindus claim that Vedas were written many years back and so it is the oldest and therefore it is the original one...the others are all duplication. So if we try to determine on the basis of the age we end in a draw. Nobody wins, in fact.

I am Muslim as I was born in a house or family of Muslim. My parents arranged for prayers call, Aazan in my ear. What is it happening, what are they behaving with me? I had no sense to reply it all. It means that I am Muslim by chance. Becouse I born in Muslim family, and as I think, it had happened by chance. I learnt about the respecable christianity in my sacred book of my religion. I learnt that both of the religion or co related and working for peace, love and positive values of life. But I also lean that many people from Islam or christianity follow and convert their religion by choice. I and many like me are muslims by chance and converters are Muslims by choice. Both of the religions are teaching the people good things and preventings them from bed. So I belive that no religion is bad. the word bad is bad to use with religion. So every religion is right. All relgions are property of God, and sorry to say that, we have no authority to call them bad.

I think both Christianity and Islam do not practise 'untouchability' where people of certain community are considered sub-human. I would leave that religion unnamed.

Hello as you Have seen I have commented above to responses of other members telling my opinion related to their responses . But now I am going to give my response about Islam and Christianity . I personally Believe In Islam and I am very very satisfied in My Believes In Islam , and I wish that Everyone be satisfied in His believes as Me . Now Let me Explain why I am satisfied in My Believes In Islam , It is Because that we - Muslims - believe In the God , all of His angels , all His scriptures , and all His apostles , We make no difference between any of His apostles . as You know Jews Denied Jesus and Fought Him , as They want the messiah " SON OF DAVID " , Hence You can say that Jews Denied Both of Christianity and Islam , Christianity Denied Islam , But Islam Respect all . Here is the Verse : [002:285] The messenger believes in whatever is revealed to him by his Lord; so do the believers! They all believe in Allah, His angels, (all) His scriptures, and (all) His messengers. (They say), “We do not differentiate between any of His messengers!” And they say, “We hear, and we obey. (We do seek) Your forgiveness, Our lord! And towards You is our journey’s end!” Or another Translation : [002:285] The apostle believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers; they all believe in Allah and His angels and His books and His apostles; We make no difference between any of His apostles; and they say: We hear and obey, our Lord! Thy forgiveness (do we crave), and to Thee is the eventual course" as You see - Because Of Islam - a Muslim Must respect your Faith , But when You respect My faith Sure This Can be Because Of anything But NOT Because of Christianity . or the Bible .

Thanks for the comment. But let me interject few thoughts here. For most Jews it was reasonable to crucify Jesus of Nazereth because they thought Messiah would deliver them the cluth of the Roman empire. Jesus did not do that rather he redefined the Chosen People. But it was rather unfortunate that Jews failed to recognise Jesus as the true Messiah. Christianity denied Islam. True. But I believe Islam denied Christianity too. Because Christians worship Jesus, and Muslims will not do that. They say Jesus is one of the prophets, but Jesus himself is not worthy of worship. I don't mean to say that Islam is wrong, but I just meant to say that Islam also rejects Christianity as it is rejected, in one way or the other, by Christianity. I think whether Islam is correct or Christianity is correct cannot be determined by pointing to miracles. I think we need to look at Jesus. Is Jesus divine? Does Jesus accept worship? Is Jesus more than a prophet? If the answers are yes, then Islam is mistaken. But if the answers are no, then Christianity would be mistaken.

Hi! sorry to hurt your feelings, but i believe neither Islam nor Christianity are true Religions bcoz they were founded by mortal men(with due respect to them),not God.Both these religions have used unscruplous means to propogate the religion including Violence.

truth always wins ultimately, though it may be weak for sometime. If Islam is true it will rebound...let history decide.
