What a horrible choice to have to make? Both are delicious and an important part of my diet. Coffee has some cancer-preventative properties, but then so does Chocolate. Coffee only prevents colon cancer and chocolate has a wider preventative effect. However, coffee decreases the incidence of cavities and chocolate increases the decay risk to teeth. Chocolate is soothing, and releases endorphins in the brain, but coffee wakes my brain up and if my brain is still asleep, it won't matter how relaxed it is. I think I have to choose coffee, because I am such an addict. But my sincerest wish is never to have to make such a choice.

I have both:). Usually in the morning I have my coffee - I adore it, although my heart does not like it too much(physically). So I have my coffee in the morning, as my breakfast, and I enjoy it with a piece of chocolate, great combination.

But, what if you only had enough money to buy one or the other, but not both? Which would you choose?

Why do either or when you can have both? Cafe mocha is coffee with chocolate in it. Coffee with vanilla is also good, and there are a host of other tasty flavors you can add to spice coffee with, then there are the two treats just by their lonesome if you are in a purist mood.

Ultra sweet coffee? With what, half a pound of sugar? I see that you would choose coffee over chocolate. Wise decision. With coffee you would gain the necessary stimulation, mentally and physically, to be better able to find a way to earn the money to buy the chocolate. And, the combination of coffee and LOTS, and LOTS, and LOTS of sugar, would keep you wide awake in the process. You would be more awake and alert, and therefore your productivity would increase, which might give you a raise or promotion, which would then mean more money for more chocolate...and even some money left over for more coffee. I am here to rack people's brains with this mental exercise. Yes, I do make life hard. LOL!

But, what if you absolutely had to choose between coffee and chocolate, and mochas are not an option?

I agree with you there. I am trying to develop a taste for dark chocolate because of its health benefits. I especially like plain fair-trade certified organic dark chocolate bars.

Chocolate because although it has caffeine like coffee, it also has soothing chemicals. Coffee is purely for the stimulant effects and the good taste. I don't like chocolate IN coffee, but a good hot cup of java followed by a Hershey's Bar sounds great right now. LOL

I am totally different. I LOVE mochas, and the more chocolate in them, the better.

i prefer chocolate. since i was a child that's my favorite drink. i only learned to drink coffee when i was already working. but since the doctor had told me to avoid these drinks, i missed drinking and eating chocolates.

Hi there nonew3! If I have to choose between having coffee or chocolate, I would definitely choose chocolate. I am not really into coffee except its aroma but I totally love chocolate. I actually had a cup of hot chocolate this morning. I love chocolate bars, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate drinks, anything that has chocolate in it. How about you?

I am equally addicted to both chocolate and coffee, and this is a very powerful addiction. Therefore, I combine both a lot. I really don't know which I would choose, if I ever had to choose coffee or chocolate. I would be in agony over it. I love both very, very much. If one were to look at my kitchen, one would think that coffee and chocolate are all I ever eat and drink. LOL!
