They need some competition..what's the deal with this ebay monopoly? I don't even buy anything off of ebay anymore because most sellers only accept paypal.

Ebay and paypal have had a few places who have tried to compete with them, when i used to sell on ebay i accepted paypal ( until they started doign me out of money ) i acceted nochex and i also accepted one which had been started by a bank called fastpay but nochex got outlawed by ebay and your no longer able to accept it well state that you accept it in your listings, fastpay didn't get much favour from buyers, i think i used it a total of 5 times, so nothing special there. The problem is if ebay won't allow you to accept other forms of payment i mean you can't accept cash now either, then you have no option in the end but to use paypal, also with all the hype about how good paypals policies are etc etc and how well they protect buyers and sellers everyone feels safe with them.....until they do you over by a fraudlent transaction in one form or another. There have also been contenders against ebay for a piece of the market but none have done too well, ebay is a monopoly and it will be for many years to come unless someone big like virgin open their own auction site, then people might give it a try because it's a big name. Paypal does suck big time, it's a fraudsters paridise.

There is so much more that i feel ebay could do and so do alot of other people. The site brings in millions each year in revenue yet they are rife with scammers, fraudsters, dodgy goods, copied cds, copied movies but yet they do not take a proactive approach to it all, they will only do something about it if you report the listings, meaning that the buyers and sellers have to do a job which ebay should be employing a task force to do. They should have a department who are daily just searching through ebay for fake listings, copied items, and dodgy goods and as soon as tey spot them the listings are removed. I for one will not buy a cd or dvd from ebay any more because you don't know if your getting an original or a copy even if a listing says original it can still wind up being a copy, yeah you can make a claim with ebay and paypal which i wouldn't mind doing but ebay charge you £15 to claim with them and if your item only cost a few quid whats the point? I feel that you should not have to submit claims to paypal and ebay because the problems should not be there in the first place and the fact that they are only says one thing to me, they are more interested in getting the listing fee's in than they are in keeping the site a safe place and a legit place for people to buy and sell on. As far as scammers and fraudsters, they should have the same task for who should be patroling the site for fakes etc working with the police and paypal, that way when a buyer or seller claims foul play the task force, paypal and the police all can work together to do something about it it the may act as a deterant against the fraudsters who prey on the innocent every day people who use ebay.

I don't really have a problem with Paypal in general. I don't like the little chunk they take off, every time I send money to someone else (my fiance and I send money back and forth between Canada and the USA all the time). It's still cheaper than Western Union, but it could be better. That's the only problem I have with PayPal.

Y do u hate paypal. It's free to sign up. But if you want a competition try BidPay. I accept bidpay, checks and money orders, because I know everyone doesn't have a PayPal account.
