more cynical, more restless than what it was a decade or two ago? I feel so. I heard my grand father used to tell the same thing about his times. Probably the intensity is greater now!!

I agree with you on this point. I would like to give my own voice about this topic for reference only. Well, take my own country for an example. Before the eighties last century, it was still plan economy and people used to pay more attention to their contribution to whatever and they did not value money so much. In Chairmao Mao's time, people were taught to "Serve the people wholeheartedly." (Of course, we still do the same.)They were just much more helpful to each other. Whatever they did, they wouldn't take money into consideration as their final aim. After the eithties, with the carrying out of market economy, people think more of how to make money and pay less attention to their relationship. Sometimes I miss that good old days when the relationship between people is concerned.

The changes have swept every economy in the world, it happened long back in US and noticed in 1980's as you said in China and India too. Human values have been replaced by money value.

It's incredibly rude. With the more gadgets we have, to communicate with, the less we do...the more portable music systems, etc, we're so lost in our own personal clouds that we really have no use for eachother , no one has peoplke skills or concerns for one another on an average daily basis. That's why when people spontaneously rescue eachother in a crisis situation, everyone is so reactive to the feeling of community,it's so sudden and the cameraderie is a truly fresh feeling of love and involvement that's normally missing from the societal infrstructure.

You say it again. I simply liked the statement which need to be cemented in everyone's mind. The objective of life is lost in the process of our materialistic living. Your response has added a lot of strength to the topic and thanks.

No issues, it is. TODAY becomes PAST and FUTURE becomes PRESENT. From time immemorial we have seen that this PAST has a tendency to criticise the PRESENT generation. This is but generation gap. But , i feel, the gap has not been so much wide. Its stark and alarming! The youth is unruly, unquestionable and rude. They are blessed with all good things in life, right from modern gadgets to prosperity to education. I feel sad sometimes and feel we had been better off with apparent ignorance!

Very true. The modern amenities, gadgets have spoiled our youth and our parentage also reached questionable status, all resulting in not raising the children the way they should be. In addition, the impact of western culture has added spice to it. We need to work to ensure that our children should not become redundants.

You just spoke my mind. We have been imbibing western culture, in possibly all wrongs ways. with all prosperity, abundunce...it's dissapointing! Parentage is degrading gradually as well. this is more alarming.

Dearssh123, Yes, you are right. Because now a days do not have faith in each other. Even among the family members the trust is reducing. Attributory factors might be due to heavy pressure in work place, competition, fast life, fear, boredom, disappointment, frustration. These things are more in modern life than that of life before two decades ago. Two decades ago there was no TV, Cell phone. TV though passes lot of good information it shows also bad information of life in different part of the world. People, now a day, blasted with lot of unwanted information which make them to feel bad. That would have been the cause for people more rude now a day than that of 2 decades ago.

Hi ssh123! I believe it so because 10-20 years ago, people are friendlier and more trusting. But things changed, there are a lot of people who are after you because they want something and after that they will leave you in a situation that is not really, really good and I have been a victim several times of scams. (Never learned!) It seems everything is superficial nowadays, and everything is all about money and power. I am just glad that I have met some people who are still sincere in their personal and business relationships and these people I will keep forever in my heart. I just hope that people will realize that true success is when you reached that goal without having to stepped on other people's shoes. And that true happiness is not entirely all bout wealth and power but on how you have treated others with respect and dignity. Take care and have a nice day!
