How much would you spend?

I have to buy a new keyboard for my laptop. Altogether, it will cost about $150. How much are you willing to spend to repair your computer before you just give up and decide its time for a new one? I think I spent about $1000 for it new.

I need to get my keyboard replaced too, as i spilt a glass of water in it... nearly blew the whole laptop up but luckily didn't! I took it to several different computer places and they said it may cost anywhere from $150 to $600 or even more. So i decided to not bother fixing it, I then went out and bought a normal USB keyboard and a USB mouse to go with it. It's not as transportable as a normal laptop but if i really have to take it somewhere it isn't that hard. lol. So i guess it all depends on what you use your laptop for. Do you use it away from home alot and need the transportability of it? And then i guess it depends how old it is. If it still has windows 98 or less on it, i'd buy a new one. Ours was only a year old so i didn't want to buy a new one. The new USB keyboard plus mouse cost about $34 in total. Much better saving :)

I wish I'd thought of that! I do take it with me quite a bit, but taking an extra keyboard really wouldn't have been a problem. I didn't know those would work with a laptop, and of course, the repair guy didn't offer to tell me!

Glad i could help, hopefully it works the same over there as it does here. Just got to make sure its a USB key board, because the other kind don't fit any of the points on the laptop. It's funny how computer repairers don't let you know these things. I was advised against a USB keyboard even, they said eventually the keyboard on my laptop would fry the internal parts of my laptop and it would blow up. Well it's been about three months now and still hasnt blown up!

This will be less than $200, so I think its worth it, for now.

Most of the time if at all there's any problem i do get it repaired. But just like the last laptop i had if my repairing charges exceed more than half the original cost of the laptop. Its then i think that its time to replace it.
