Hi peanutjar! I can honestly say that I have never blown anything up in the microwave before. BUT when I was younger my grandmother put a squash in and it literally blew off the door of the microwave after it exploded everywhere! That was a HUGE mess! It went all over the kitchen. I got in trouble for laughing because my Grandma was mad at herself and embarassed for not cutting it in half, or poking holes in it with a fork or something!

ha ha! I blew up a hot dog awhile back. It was pretty messy. I've blown up cheese sauce and Chef Boyardee before too. When I was little, I put a burger in the microwave and it was still wrapped in the wrapper, which was covered in a thin foil, and it started sparking up and smoking. I got fussed at for that one!

Yup, several times. Sometimes ago, My sister gave me Balut (Duck Egg with 21 Days Duckling in it) for she went to visit her friend in Pateros where Balut making is very popular but i forgot to eat it that day. I just put it in the fridge so next morning I could just reheat it. Next morning, I am late for work, so i rushed to reheat the Balut. Usually balut is reheated using boiling water in a caserole but for this time I walked straight to the the microwave oven with 1 1600W capacity and placed the balut inside the cavity of the oven. Closed the door and set the setting to High. It took exactly 10 seconds before the balut exploded. The cavity of the oven covered with duckling parts and shell. What a mess! So I figured out that balut is a no-no in a microwave oven maybe because it has some juice in it and microwave tend to boil the juice in the balut making the explosion. Ferritic

No but I'll tell ya a story about some people who did.
It was college and it was late in the studio. A few classmates fixed popcorn, nice. But when they opened it they found there were plenty of kernels left. One aspiring student had the idea of reheating it. Another, said "Now hold up, how are we gonna keep the kernels in and the bag on the bottom side?" That's when the best of the three spoke up and said, we'll use this tape [duct tape...]. Being the concerned citizen I was I tried to warn them against such action. But our brightly scholars really wanted all the popcorn they could get, and were willing to risk equipment damage and possibly a fire...
A few minutes later...fire alarm.
Apparently the bag not only exploded, it caught fire. And our soon to be participants of American promise panicked and immediately hit the fire alarm. Fire department arrives and takes care of it in seconds. I'm just mad there wasn't a video going on to record it all.
