I just finished leftovers from last nights dinner. I had done a roast in the crock pot with potatoes and carrots. I poured Aujus over the whole thing and had it on all day. It was so tender you could cut it with a fork. But today it tasted extra special after sitting in the juice all night. I think sometimes somethings taste better the second day. I think Chili and bean soup improve in taste when they have a day to absorb the seasonings. Do you think somethings taste better the second day?

dear Jillhill, you are right. Most of the South Indian families everyday they used to prepare one dish called "SAMBAR". This is a liquid item. This is maily prepared because it is a protein rich. To eat the sambar we used to mix it with Rice and make them as paste and eat it. In most of the houses, there used to be leftover of SAMBAR. If you keep the sambar in fridge and eat it with rice next day, it would be more tasty. We also use the left over sambar as a pickle when we eat a dish that is mixture of rice and curd.

Yes, I do. In fact when I prepare curry it is almost in the best taste if I keep it in the fridge and reheat it the next day. The taste is much more delicious the second day, and my husband likes it very much, especially when we eat it with 'roti canai' which is one type of a bread in our country.

I agree, there are a lot of things that taste better the next day for the simple reason that the flavors in the food have had more time to mix and soak in.
A few things I really love as leftovers are chinese food, pasta, pizza, and soups. My mother makes this incredible pasta and lentils dish that is pretty tasty the day she makes it, but then my sister and I fight over the leftovers because by then, the noodles and lentils have really started to soak up the taste os the sauce. It's so much better. The same applies to the pea soup that my mom makes.

Absolutely. My mom's vegetable beef stew gets better every time it gets re-heated. It's so good the first time you wouldn't believe how good it gets as you go. My mom always made big batches and froze it in the winter time.
I also think chili is one that gets better.
I'm not a big fan of pot roast beyond the first day though. Something about leftover meat turns my stomach. I don't know why.

I am not a fan of leftovers. There are very few things actually that I will even eat leftover. For instance, my dinner yesterday was mac N cheese and hot dogs (all beef...no pork) and tonite my dinner was leftover mac n cheese! I live alone i don't eat much my cat won't eat most of my food :\
There are two things I can think of that taste better the next day.
This Seafood Salad I make. It's basically Noodles, immitation crab meat, canned tiny shrimp, mayo and old bay seasoning. It's delicious! But it always taste better the day AFTER you make it. So long as you keep it in the fridge and seal it well it usually lasts anywhere from 3 - 5 days. I LOVE it.
The other thing is Pizza. ALL pizza tastes 10 times better leftover the next day. It doesn't matter whether it's room temperature or cold from being in the fridge, no matter what it is the best thing in the world, Especially if you had thin crust! Yum!
