I have a co worker who is planning to take his 3 year old son to watch the new horror movie. His son already watches horror movies, would you let your child watch this? ( Please dont think that I am already a mom )

I do let my kids watch horror films. However, I do not let the youngest watch them - he is 4 years old. If I allow any horror for my middle child, it has to be on regular tv, where the really bad stuff is cut out, and of course it has to be a movie that I have seen, so I make him cover his eyes. Mainly, for him though, we stick to Goosebumps type or episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark, which is geared toward children and not very scary to begin with. My oldest is a horror movie lover like I am, so she and I will watch movies together. I make it clear to my kids that what they are watching is NOT real and there is nothing to fear. It seems, though, that they have that natural love for horror like I did as a kid (and still do). I was allowed to watch horror at an early age, but that was back when Shock Theatre was on television, and the movies were mainly B-rate, cheesy, campy movies, more funny than scary. It should also be noted that I don't allow any of my children to view slasher films. These are often too disturbing for a child to handle. With that said, I would never take any of my kids to a movie theater to see a horror film. This is simply because if it's in the theater that means I haven't had the chance to view it first to make sure that it's okay for them. If there's loads of scenes of killing or blood, adult content, etc. I don't allow them to watch at all. Sounds like this dad needs to get a sitter for the night if he really wants to see the movie. 3 years old is really too young to see this sort of movie (which I am assuming is the new Halloween release, and if that's the case, the writer/director Rob Zombie is known for extremely gory, torturous scenes and pushing the limits of comfort, definitely NOT suitable for kids).

that is FAR too young to be watching anything that falls in the genre of "horror" in my opinion! talk about practicaly guaranteeing that the poor little guy is gonna end up with some bad nightmares! why would any parent even want to take that chance? that guy is a complete moron.
