why internet became more popular

my theory - soon the internet will be all people need to survive. I mean what can't you do on the internet now? Soon there will be no reason to leave the house. I won't disuss all of the uses of the internet because I am sure that you are well aware of them. i do know that most people believe that whatever you can't find on the internet - most people won't look for. The question in my mind is is this advancement positive or negative. i say both to a certain extent. I do think it is sad that most people would prefer to sit in front of their computer than go out. Don't get me wrong I love the convenience of the net but I do like to keep a fair balance.
