Where Do You Get Your News?

What news shows and stations do you normally watch, or don't you have any favorites? There was a time when I couldn't understand how my mom could watch CNN-which was the only cables news network at the time- all the time but it must be genetic because I'm a total news junkie myself now. The only difference is we have so many more choices today with the 24/7 newscasts. I used to watch Don Imus's show on MSNBC in the morning and I really enjoyed it; he was known for saying outrageous things now and then but his show was very informative and entertaining. For the record, what he said that got him fired was indefensible but I do NOT believe he's a racist and I think he should be forgiven already and not have his career destroyed over it. I watch our local news several times a day, depending on if and when I'm at home, and I usually watch ABC World News Tonight. There's no complicated reason for this, I guess it's just habit, but I really did like Peter Jennings alot when he was on. I'm hooked on Hardball and Countdown every evening and if I'm not going to be home or if there's something else I need to see I always record them...or the other shows. I've come to really like Dan Abrams also so I usually watch his show at 9 pm. I really love The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report. I know it's "fake" news but there are enough facts thrown in for someone who knows the difference. Sunday mornings is a channel surfer's dream-or nightmare, I suppose-as I try to catch the most important topics and guest stars. Usually I never miss Meet the Press; if I don't see it in the morning I see the rerun later that night. Same thing goes for Chris Matthews' Sunday show, I watch that in the evening right after our local 11 pm news. OK, myLotters, what do you watch? Am I crazy or do you share the same habits? Annie

I forgot to add that I also watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I used to watch Bill Maher but I don't get that channel anymore.

I also like the Daily Show and Colbert Report and I finally broke down and got HBO mainly because of Bill Maher. Fox News is good for a laugh as is conservative radio, until it gets me too pis*ed off. MSNBC is my favorite. I hate to bring this up but you said in another discussion you wouldn't watch Countdown; if you like the Daily Show I think you'd also like Countdown. John Stewart isn't exactly a right-winger, you know...lol Thanks for weighing in here! Annie

LOL I said I watched The Daily show, not that I liked it. I sometimes watch left wing shows just to see what they're up to. I also like to watch Meet The Press and the Sunday morning show on Fox with Chris Wallace. Did I mention Hard Ball? LOL I guess you could say that I love politics.

I get my news from magazines such as TIME and NEWSWEEK. I also like to listen to the BBC World Service on the internet, and I listen to news of my hometown on local stations on line. I am in the USA right now, but I can still keep up with Canadian news, and news in my hometown by listening to on-line radio broadcast in that area.
