The Reign of the Judges

In the Book of Mormon there was a culture who decided they no longer needed kings. They decided that the judges would do a better job making and interpreting law to govern the people. It led to one of the most vile and corrupt societies known to mankind. Too many of our judges aren't happy merely interpreting laws on the books. It doesn't seem to matter what the law says anymore, it only matters what the judges think the law should be. Are we really willing to allow a handful of bloated egos put their own feelings into law, simply because they wear a gown and bang a gavel? Why is it that we applaud judges when they make corrupt discisions, simply because we agree with what they said? Are we really so childish that we'll encourage our judges to trash our Constitution, simply because we agree with their opinions? If we applaud a judge who ingores existing law in their deciions, then we deserve to be treated like cattle and locked away in concentration camps and have our rights stripped from us. If we welcome judicial activism, we aren't worthy of our freedom.

IMO, a big mistake was made years ago when judges, every level, were given immunity to any poor judgments they may have made. It is sad when there are people that are given nearly unlimited power, particularly powers that are unconstitutional to begin with.
