What happened to the MP3 I bought?

I purchased an MP3 for someone and the person I bought it for always takes very good care of everything particularly this device and one day when this person wanted to listen to music as usual, after about a month and a half, it just wouldn't turn on and a few days later after I prayed it turned on again while it was plugged into my computer modem. Well after a week it happened again. It just won't turn on. Someone called Best Buy for me where I bought the Insignia MP3 and was told they can't do anything since I didn't buy the $12 insurance plan. What about the warranty? I'm afraid to bring it back to the store because after paying over $70 for this new gadget I don't think I should have to pay more than what something costs to insure that it would work for at least a year. I was wondering if anyone knows what might have happened to it. Now I know prayer is powerful but let's be realistic here. Did this MP3 die on me or what do you think happened. Thanks in advance for anyone's comments.

That would be absolutely and unequivocally not. I am as careful when I pick it up as with a newborn whenever I carry it to hook it up to my modem, and the one I gave it to is the reason I'm so careful because this other person scares me a little (LOL) as they are even more careful than I am. We remove it and put it away so the grandchildren won't get at it and it's always hand held never put in a pocket, it never got wet, etc. I'm telling ya, it just stopped turning on. It's the weirdest thing. So, I thought maybe it may be defective, so I'm not sure whether I ought to try to take it back even though I didn't buy the insurance. $73 is a lot of money to me, as it was a birthday present.

I don't know what could have happened but if Best Buy won't take care of it then you need to call or e-mail the manufacturer. If you filled out the little warrantee card that came with it then you should be covered and the manufacturer should either fix it or replace it. If you didn't fill it out after you bought it then I would do that as soon as possible or you may miss out on the manufacturers warrantee as well. Most manufacturers will honor their warrantees no matter what but some won't. The only thing you can do is find the manufacturer's website and e-mail them, I'm sure they'll be happy to help you out.

Yes, I thought of that, I plan to call right after Labor Day. It says it has a warranty but didn't give anything for me to fill out. But I will definitely contact the manufacturer and ask. I appreciate your help.
