I'm SO angry! Or frustrated! I just lost a discussion!

I don't have DSL. I have dial up. Although I don't lose my connection nearly as much as I used to, I still do on occassion. I just finished typing the longest discussion that I've ever typed. Just as I got to the point where I was going to post the tags, I lost my connection. Darnit it. I was full of passion when I was orininally typing it. Now I just don't feel like it. I hope I will be able to get back to it later, but I know it won't come out the same. When you lose something, is it more difficult for you to write it the second time because your frustrated, or is it easier because you already know what you want to say?

HA HA I know exactly how you are feeling. I have a WiFi connection and the signal always seem to drop out at the wrong time. Whether I'm typing, watching streams or downloading it just seems to know just when to disconnect , I'm sure it has a life of it's own. Not to worry, just have to grin and bare it I suppose.

Oh I hate that! It's harder to get it back the 2nd time. You expend so much passion and energy and really think hard to word it just so, and then it disappears! ARGH! Been there...done that. When it happened to me, I just looked at the screen (it was mylot blip, not an internet thing) and then gave up. It was too difficult to try to recreate what I spent so much time on...and like you said...it would never come out the same the 2nd time.

Use the earned copy/paste option. I copy at about every 2 sentences I write beacuse I've had this happen all too often. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

HAVING THE COPY/PASTE OPTION IS WHAT THIS IS GREAT FOR. aFTER i START TYPING i TEND TO SAVE IT OFTEN IN DIFFERENT spots so if I do lose it I can start over after posting what I had copied. I copy my discussions, long ones, a few times throughout it so as not to lose it and get frustrated. Use that copy/paste option for this purpose. Its great' HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have yet, myself, to follow this dandy piece of advice, but experiencing this type of problem both here and in myspace, the suggestion I was given was to first type it in a word document. Then I could cut and paste. That way if it got lost, I could always copy and paste it again. dr...

Uh huh. lol Sounds like you are as stubborn as I am. I know that's what I SHOULD be doing, but for reasons I can't explain, other than the fact that I'm too lazy or stubborn. I can't bring myself to add that extra step. Thanks for your response. Take care.

I understand your frustration! Have you thought of typing into a text file and then doing a cut and paste into the Discussion block? This way if you lose your connection, you will still have the original copy. I know that this is not a real comfort at this time, but it will help prevent further problems. You, BTW, must be the most patient person I know, I have cable and wish it was a whole lot faster...if I was on dial-up, I would probably just give up on it entirely.

Yes, that has occured to me. I guess I'm too lazy/impatient/stubborn. lol I'm not sure if it's an instant gratification thing or just that I'm to lazy to add one more step to the process even if it could save me some aggravation in the long wrong. Good advice though. I guess if I'm not going to do something about it to remedy the situation, I shouldn't whine about it huh? lol I'm breaking one of my own rules by doing that. Thanks for the response. :-)

I can understand your feeling very well. Although I use ADSL, but sometimes I found Mylot is very slow and therefore I will lose my connection. Usually I will write my post again. But actually I hate to do it again because I don't like doing the same thing repeatly.

I do have DSL and still loose the connection (WEB Page Cannot Be showor some such thing) So now if I think I'm going to write any thing very long I write it in micrword soft then cut and past it so if I do loose the connection I still have the response or dicsusion. It is so frustrating to do a nice long one then have it snached away.

I find it harder the second time around because I can never quite word what i want to say in the same way, and I keep trying to make the second attempt the same as the first. I also get a bit worried that I'll lose the internet again, and have to repeat the process all over again. We have cable modem now, and it's fairly reliable, but it still goes down once in awhile.

i advise you to do your typing about anything on your notepad or word first then save it everynow and then. after you finish you can just copy and paste it to your discussion board, so that in case you loose connection or there's a power fluctuation you can still retrieve your work and resume it later.

This happened to me - although I don't have dial-up. It wasn't a discussion topic but a response - a lengthy one and there was some glitch - I would post it and it would say I wasn't logged in, so I would log in, I typed it a few more times and the same thing happened, even though I kept repeatedly logging in. This was three months ago and part of why I never returned till recently.

Currently I have dial up too....I have had DSL and prefer it much better...but I won't complain, at least I have a connection. But I'm not sure, I would probably have trouble recreating something the same way that it came out the first time. But I guess when you get inspired to write a lengthy discussion, first type it in a word document, and then you have it just in case it happens again, and that way you can just paste it into the discussion and not lose what you had typed to begin with.

As i was getting ready to reply to this i lost connection...which is weird. Anyways, sorry to hear that you lost your whole response. Yes i think it is mroe difficult to get back what you had wrote. It just never comes out the same. And some of it does come back to you easily because you remember some of it. But i always dont remember everything and then i get frustrated.

I know the feeling but just check, the discussions get posted before the tags and some times when I have tried to edit or delete a disussion before I posted the tag I have not been able to do so because it had already been published.

Hi ML, Sorry to hear that, I had the same experience with that as well. I fell very frustrated as well after that. I didn't wish to start all over again since that's really not that interesting to write it all over again. Why don't you write it in a Word file first and copy it to Mylot since you could paste it now that your mark is more than 500. For me, when I am working, I am used to have this problem so I'll save the work I am doing frequently:)

I hate it when that happens! I don't have DSL but have experienced connection issues that have made me lose some long discussions. The first few times it happened to me, I was upset but determined enough to retype it and since it was still fresh on my mind I don't think I lost anything during the retype. When it kept happening I decided to take some preventative measures. If I see that I am going to type more than one paragraph, I open a fresh notepad and complete my post there. This way, once I'm finished, I can just paste it in, add my tags and submit. I see you have over 500 posts so this should work for you too. LOVE the ability to copy & paste LOL! :D

Miamilady that happened to me a couple of times, so now if it is a lengthy discussion, I write the discussion up in word perfect, copy and paste that way I don't lose the discussion.

I have to empathize with you, everytime you go to write something that your excited about and is particularly long it seems that something happens. I don't usually lose it by the dial-up it's losing it when you try to tag it . I just get frustrated and don't even bother trying to rewrite it. The first time is the best time and the rewrite just doesn't feel the same.As you've said the passion is gone and now your just plane mad.

It's happened to me twice, people tell me to copy it and save it, but I'm not at 500 yet so I can't do that yet. Hopefully you don't lose anymore.
