Why do people make such stupid offers then insult you for not accepting?

Earlier today I had someone offer me 20k to dig up my magic tree and sell them the roots. This is a tree I continually cut logs from for my fletching & I paid 150k for the seed. Now he's wanting me to kill it so he can have the roots for 20k! I told him I'd dig it up if he brought me a new seed to replace my tree with & he had the nerve to insult me. I have this kind of thing happen all the time. Do you have similar problems? What makes them think this is right?

LOL. Did they call you a noob or some variation? I always find that it's the noobs who have the nerve to call me one, the silly buggers =P That would have been an absolute rip-off! I think you actually wanted a fair deal, considering the cost of the seeds and all (you got it at a good price though, I just sold one for 170k =D). People always insult me when I won't sell them my armour or something silly like that. I have no idea what makes them think it's okay... Maybe because so many of the players are like eight years old and don't understand common sense/decency =P The comment above mine is gold; this person has no idea about RuneScape! =P

Actually noob was what they started with. I was trying to be nice and offering to do the seed deal even though it would cut my log production for a full day. Yet they wanted to be insulting. I had a similar situation when someone offered to pay 75k for my dragon woodaxe earlier that day & that gave me the idea to post this.

LOL as if anyone would be dumb enough to ask for a d wc for 75k, let alone sell it! I hate the word noob/nub and so on. It's so overused and doesn't even have a real meaning: it's just for pissed off little RuneScapers who don't get what they want =P

Some guy offered me 10 gp for 5 rannar seeds this morning, and got really mad when I refused to accept the trade. He yelled and screamed and pitched a fit, right in the middle of the catherbury bank, until everyone (and I mean everyone) in the bank got mad and told him to get lost and quit being a jerk. I've never seen a group of people more united against one particular person before, but if anyone deserved it, it was this guy! Be careful if you're arguing with them though...a buddy of mine got in a bit of a scrap with one of these idiots, and the next thing you know, there was a video of him up on youtube, carefully edited to make him look like the jerk...

Thats why I never go there anymore. I used to offer an apprenticeship program where I'd show newbs around the freeworld & help them knock off their first 3 quests but I can't do that any longer with all the noobs hasteling me.

This guy did not insult you because he thought he was right. He insulted you because he did not get what he wanted, and like a child he threw a tantrum. He insulted you by offering you such a small price to destroy something of such value, be it a magic tree or a normal material object. Why he would think you would accept mystifies me. And please, what is 'fletching'? Is your tree magical only for this purpose or is it magically charged in and of itself? Oh, gosh, my curiosity is running amok with a few million questions lol. Yes, I have had people offer me absurdly small prices for posessions of great value to me, things that cost me time and spirit to gain. Most of the time this was because they did not velue the gaining of the thing, and believed that its possession alone was its value, that they could purchase the value I had earned. In their ignorance they did not realize that the power was not transferable in that way.

Fletching is actually a skill used to produce archery supplies ( bows, arrows & such ). Its one of the major skills in the game. Had they tried this in real life I'd have let them have some of my arrows, launched from a bow. My ingame character is much like myself outa game, a warrior, blacksmith & craftsman of the old ways.

OK, twice now myLot has eaten my redfaced confession, so one more try. I did not read the topic nor the previous posts, so only now realze you were talking about a game.. As you know you and I have only begun 'talking' on myLot. So I dropped by your profile page and came here from it due to the title. So excuse my ignorance, ok? Anyway, I still want to know what fletching is.. I actually thought you meant a real life tree with magical properties, not impossible in my understanding of workings and our world.

It's very common, because there are so many noobs, or idiots that want things for cheap so to get them cheap they hope by calling you a noob that you change your mind and to sell em' it because they called you noobish, there just little kids that get a sense of accompishment by calling people noobs/newbs/froobs because that's all they have to look forward to in there pathiece life!

i have often had similat experieces, i tend to think that the one insulting is usually a kid but still doesnt excuse thier rudeness, i know when i was growing up there was consequences (plz excuse any grammer or spelling/typing errors). is kind of a sad state of affairs when folks think courtsy in a usless comodity. lol there ive shown my old age

Thats hardly showing your age. It shouldn't be unheard of for kids to show proper respect. If my kids acted like that they'd be in trouble.

Ugh. I can't stand when people do stupid things like this. Why does everyone get offended when you don't take them up on offers? Personally, whether it's a good offer or not, I wouldn't offended if someone decided not to do some kind of trade or sale with me on a game. So I can't see why these idiots who offer stupid trades think they have the right to be offended over you not being stupid enough to fall for it.

Apparently real world respect & honor just dosen't transfer into the game. My character ingame is a virtual extension of my personality. If its the same for them then their some seriously spoiled brats.

Threatening to report you is absolutely stupid. Whenever a report is filed jagex gets a video of the scene for the last few minutes. Who's that going to incriminate? The idiot doing the reporting. Yep let them turn themselves in. Maybe Runescape should do their own Runescapes Dumbest Criminals video.

I feel the same way. I extend the same honor code I follow offline to online interactions as well, and I have a rather strict honor code. So, yes, it frustrates me to see people acting so disrespectfully. And I agree, I think many of these people are probably spoiled brats offline as well as online.

I can find this a major problem when dealing with people that resuse to believe that it is an inconvienience to me to do things for them... such as chop down trees, just so they can have the roots! ! find i have more trouble with people if i am selling things, they seem to assume that some really bad offer of junk is great and i should accept with gratitude, and of course, when i don't accept their pretty worthless offers, they call me lots of names. it seems that now in runescape no matter what your combat lvl, or how long you have played, how well you know the market prices or how polite you are, you will be verbally abused by some spoiled kid wanting their own way. my favorite way to deal with them, is to use very polite big grown up words that they don't understand, and walk/tele away lol.

i know! seriously! i have people do that all the time. if you accept, then they say "noob" ect... if you decline, then they say well, i was gonna give it you you (ya...right) i was on my level 3 skiller 1 time, and this guy did that. he was lik level 63... of all people. then i got so mad when he declined... just to waist my time. i went on ly level 70 9made sure i was wearing my (zammy) then i found him, and traded him. i put out 468 addy arrows, 2 sets of full rune and a ton of runes. then i declined... then i put out my zammy and all that and 100k. then i when he accepted, i declined... it helped me to "release" my anger... and it was funny.lol

Wish I'd have had a bronze woodaxe on me at the time. I'd have sold him "that" for 75k. As for the root guy , I should have just told him to go plant himself.

a new low to this topic was on free world helping a friend recently near castle lumby saw a lvl 60 offer 100 for a party hat s it me or isnt a lvl 60 alittle high for that kind of offer ????

Actually the party hats aren't members only. They were one of the first holdiay drops before they made the holiday stuff non tradable. I don't consider a players level to be a factor in wether their a noob or not, its their maturity & game skill. Any idiot can go to pest control & get high level combat yet still be a noob.

Ignorence shouldn't give birth to rudeness. I know it does , but it shouldn't. It just shows immaturity along with the ignorence.

Unfortunantly jerks & whinners abound. I just had a great idea. There should be a report attitude button. Anyone getting too many reports gets locked up in the stocks in the closest town where people can throw rotten tomatoes at them for a full 24 hrs of gameplay. That might change their attitude. Or how about a knock the noob minigame. People who get reported get teleported to a balance beam maze & can't do anything else till they complete it. All the while other people are throwing tomatoes at them trying to knock them off & making them restart. "Laughs gleefully at the thought of passing out tomatoes"
