Ever gone into a store and found that not only does no one greet you but if you go up to the counter the salesgirl is chattering away on the phone about silly stuff and keeps putting up her finger when you try to interrupt - after standing there patiently waiting for quite awhile? And has the salesgirl actually has the nerve to be irritated with you?

No, I haven't had a salesperson on the phone put a finger up while I was at the counter. But I have a multi-tasker. She was on the phone and rang me up at the same time. And many stores don't greet me when I step in. But there is a store where you are geeted every time you enter and you are wished a good day when you leave, even if you haven't bought anything. It is Sephora. It is a beauty store. They have a person that stands at the door and greets you. Every saklesperson is friendly and knowledgeable. I mean if she/he doesn't know, she/he will ask someone else so you can get your answer. It is a great store . I hope you have one near you.If you find one, go in and find where real customer service went.

My Sephora is in a mall. I hope you can find one in your area. It is such a fun place to shop. They have testers for almost everything in the store. If you see a lip gloss that looks good, you can take a Q-tip and try it out.it is so great.

I will check it out - I've seen the name Sephora on Ebay. I like the idea of greeters. I love sales staff who don't bombard you and corner you but are there if you need them.

Bad customer service can really bother me and put a damper in my day at times. Although I will say I particulary do not like it when I walk in a store and I am hounded by a sales rep asking do you need help with anything. I like to browse and if I need help I will make it a point to ask, but I cannot stand if a person is on the phone and is very rude and not even paying me any mind when I do have a question or need.

I too, don't like sale staff who pounce on you and pressure you. I do like a happy medium however! I used to be in customer service, and I was polite no matter what! And I had some challenging situations, usually I could defuse anger - not always. Even when I was exhausted or had migraines or had personal problems - which is never an excuse and should never ever be brought to work. Never an excuse. Those working with the public should leave their own problems at the door. So when in these high profile positions are rude, angry or stubbornly not helpful it is a pet peeve of mine. I do tend to try to give the benefit of the doubt, bad day etc - but again - I've had all of that, bad day, migraines personal problems and exhaustion and I still tried to go above and beyond.

I live in the Baltimore, Maryland area and we have a store called K-Mart. This store has terrible customer service not in one store but in all of them in the area. I have had to ask for help more than once because of personally phone calls or personal converstions between employees. I have complained to K-Mart and they do not see fit to answer any of my emails. It seems like these people are employed because of their negative attitudes. It also seems that big business doesn't care how they treat people because we put up with the bs and continue to shop at their stores. We need to stand up and say enough in enough and stop shopping at these stores. We need to also tell everyone who will listen about the bad service and recommend that they too find somewhere else to shop. I have been to K-Mart several times and the problems started back in December of 2006 and are still not settled. There are some companies that do step in and do something about bad customer service. I have had to complain once about Riteaid and the situation was remedied in twenty four hours. The same with CVS and Walgreens. Office Depot however, is another story as well. I have sent them an email about bad service and have never recieved an email from them either. The best thing to do is tell your bad service story to the company. If the company doesn't do anything about it move up the chain. There is planetfeedback.com where you can voice your opinion. Each state has its own attorney generals office which is set up by our government to protect consumer rights. There are other site like here at mylot that you can tell people about the problem. I think the more people that know the better.

Great answer, and you know it just may well be Kmart I'm thinking about as I used to live in in MD - Gaithersburg/Germantown area. But not only them, plenty of stores especially the malls in MD.
