The public should should start voting sooner

I think the public should start choosing the next american idol much sooner than it is at the present. Afterall if the public likes your singing then you've made it as a music star. The aspirants shouldn't be reduced to just a few before the public starts voting for them.

I disagree. While the public is who buys the records in the end and if we don't listen if we don't like, they won't get anywhere... but Not every American Idol has become something great. Heck there are only even two who are well known and doing well still! Out of, how many Idol competitions?
The first thing is their sellabilty (I doubt that's a word) and their talent. Not just anyone can go on Idol, win and move on to sell a bajillion records.
I think the way they do it is pretty well.

I definitly agree with you! The way American Idol has it set up seems to be the best way. Now just for giggles let me take a stab at the two who you feel are well known. I doubt I will get it wrong because one of them is my favorite. They are Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.

I love Kelly Clarkson, Carrie isn't my style. Kelly isn't actually either ha ha.
Yeah, I mean the concept of American Idol is great but just because people liked them on the show, doesn't mean they'll do well after the show. You also have to factor in that on the show all their songs are cover songs. Whereas... their albums aren't so much!

Yes, I think they should allow an earlier voting for the public. This means we can have more chance to vote for the ones we like and can give everyone a fair chance to win by healthy competition. However, I admit that by doing it this way it will make American Idol as a popularity competition and no longer a singing competition. But I understand nowadays popularity plays the most important role to be successful in entertainment industry.

i don't think this is right cuz looking at the way where a lotta people tend to choose acts over good singers and if that would be the case the top finalists and semi finalists would be a bunch of 'Sanjaya Malakars' lol
