What would make you stop posting online?

Posting on forums and message boards can be addictive. In addition to My Lot there are thousands, if not tens of thousands of possible places to chat with people online. Some of these forums pay and some don't. Most of us don't actually post for the few pennies we earn, but for something less tangible like companionship or friendship. It gives us a feeling that we actually belong somewhere. That our opinion matters. With that being said, I suppose there will come a day, when even I will have to stop posting and hanging out online. When I first started working online about three years ago, I had all the time in the world to chat with friends and pursue every possible business opportunity online. But, then my kid was only about a year old and slept a lot, like most babies. But, now she is much older and requires constant attention. So, I guess my days here online are limited. So, that's why I would have to stop posting online. And, when that day finally arrives I will have enjoyed the trip. So, why would you stop posting at message boards and forums. And, I mean all message boards, not just My Lot. You could be talking about My Space or Yahoo or Google groups, etc. Why would you stop posting online, if you had to pick one reason, what would it be? What would cause you to abandon your online friends?

Hello beautyqueen26, I would stop posting online just for one reason and it would be my family. I think I need to concentrate more on my one year old son who just celebrated his first birthday last Sunday and when my husband is around, I should spend more time with him too since we have been apart for the past 8 months. I think I will just give up my 'online hobby' for the two of them *smiles*

Would be the same for me as well! My little girl spent some time in the hospital when she was a tiny baby and I went off line afterwards for almost six months. The internet and computer have a strange pull, that borders on dangerous and addictive. My daughter is growing up so fast in front of my eyes and when that happens, I know that it's time to get off the computer and spend more time with her.

I usually hang around in mylot and other local beauty forums. If one day, I have to stop posting here and there, then maybe I have found some better places to spend my life or I don't enjoy this "hobby" anymore. I think I would spend less time around here when I get a new job and should focus more energy on the new career, but I would still come on here and other forums from time to time. Well, if I lose interest, then it would be another thing.

Certainly, boredom would drive me away quickly as well. But, I would never forget my friends!

Well, then I will try to keep the topics interesting. But, I don't do controversial stuff. I did a ton of those in my first month or two on My Lot and lost lots of money at payday. Go figure! Anyway, it's not worth it. But, chatting about general stuff is nice too. Boring, yes. But, not costly.

would stop when I thought I was spending too much time online- and not enough time with my family- My daughter is 10--- so I try not to be on long- and usually when she is busy (at her dads) or in bed- Also I’d stop posting if I won the lottery- I’d be out and about—not sitting home online. : )

I don't really see anything making me permanently stop posting online any time soon. I probably will cut back how much time I am able to spend on here when my husband deploys this winter. My son will need me more, and I will be responsible for all of the household tasks, unless my sister comes up and stays for a while. Even if my sister comes up and stays, I will still probably spend less time on here, because I will be spending time with her instead, and probably helping her make the things she sells. Another thing that we could cause me to spend a lot less time online would be if I have another baby. The new baby would need a lot of attention, and Elliott would probably need more for a while, too.

I had not thought about having another baby, but you are right. If one has another baby, then certainly that would be a very good reason to spend time offline.

For me to completely stop posting ANYWHERE online? I can't really see it happening. Maybe if my computer broke and I had no internet connection I would stop until I got everything back in order but not forever. Even if I worked outside the home I wouldn't stop. I assuredly wouldn't post as often but every now and then... Getting online is how I relax, I enjoy it. It doesn't cause a problem with my family, so I really would have no reason to stop.

I would have to say that the only thing that I could think of that would make me stop would be if my computer quit working on me and there was no way that I was able to get it repaired or buy a new one as I can't forsee any other reason , at the moment that would require for me to give it up because even though I have to spend more time with my children now that they are getting older there is always still some time for me . I am not able to get on here as much as I used to be able to but still find the time to make it on for a bit each day or every couple of days .

Seems that you are still going strong! :P I used to post quite actively here but now, it is practically radio silence. I think, as for anything, we need motivation. If you have motivation - be it monetary or just kill time or whatever - do so. Just make sure you get something positive out of the whole thing. God bless. =)

I post here on myLot because I enjoy interacting with people and sharing views with them. If not for social networks and forums like these, I will never have the opportunity to chat with people from all over the world sitting here at my desktop. It's an experience that is worth more than what I can possibly earn here. The only thing that may stop me posting is if I am busy and needs to devote my time attending to more urgent things. Even then, I will still try and come here for at least an hour a day.

I enjoy a lot of things online. One of this is thru discussions like this and chatting. Because thru this I am able to earn lots of friends and I am able to learn lots of things. If one day I have to stop being online (but i dont know if it will ever happen), maybe it is because of my family and loveones because for me they are the most important people in my life. But other than that? I can't think of any right now. :-)
