I use stand fans in the house. We don't have ceiling fans because ceiling lights are installed there. We have fans for each room, altogether six including an old one placed in the kitchen.

With air conditioners becoming common there is little use fans now a days. but even then we will find fans in each and every home. I prefer ceiling fan because i dont have normal stand fan. i think normal stand fan takes a lot of space and its a bit risky also as far as small children as concerned. So my verdict will go with the cieling fan.

i agree! its a little bit risky when it comes to small childrens... my kid is ten months old during his nine months... i let him walk on his walker... i was on the kitchen and i suddenly hear a thing fall down... when i run through it, i saw the fan on the floor he pull the wire thats why the fan fall down... im just glad that the fan doesnt hit his head... or else it would be a big troublle... thanks x1x2x3

Well I think I'd go for stand fun especially when its summer cause when its hot the roof as well as the ceiling will be hot so in order to have a coolder air stand fun would be it cause its far from the ceiling.

well i think i would prefer ceiling fans.. see i do use a stand fan and it is annoying because everytime i clean my room, it gets in the way and it causes to much hassle to move it from one place to another. i think ceiling fans are more convenient.

Hi jHoEn16! When I am in the kitchen, I usually use our ceiling fan because it is more convenient for me when I am preparing and cooking the meals for the day but when it really gets hot, I turn the ceiling fan and the stand fan at the same time. Take care and have a nice day!

i prefer a stand fan cause i don't have a ceiling fan in my house... but i am very fortunate that my new house now is installed with an air-conditioner in the dining rom when i bought it... so i don't have to worry about the heat during summer... but when i want to sleep, i think i still have to use my portable air-conditioner...

It really depends upon me, because there are places where a cealing or wall fan can be more convinient to use. But most likely, I prefer stand fans, because we can take them on any part of the house when we need it. Unfortunately, we don't have any airconditioning units in our house. So we just rely by using electric fans, with two stand fans and a couple of desk fans for us to use!;)

I prefer a stand up fan as I always end up with a headache from ceiling fans . I can see the swirling from the fan even when I am not looking at one . I don't find a ceiling fan as cool as a stand up fan either and you can move a stand up fan if you want from room to room where you can't move your ceiling fans .

I never realized how much I used my ceiling fan, until we moved here. We don't have ceiling fans in any of the rooms yet. My husband just bought fans for our room, my son's room, and the dining room. We will buy 2 more later probably, for the living room and the game room. For now I am using a stand fan. I can't sleep without a fan on, even during the winter. My husband hates it because I turn on the AC in our room, and then I turn on the fan, too. He gets too cold.

we dont have a ceiling fan but we do have a stand fan and a desk fan. my aunt has a ceiling fan but dont use that often. i would go for stand fan becasue you can place it anywhere you like. you can place it at the door or near the window so it can atleast get the (little) wind that has outside. i mean its adjustable and you can move it anywhere at the house.

well actually none of the above as I am freezing my as% off here right now but when summer comes I love to have my windows open when the air is fresh (mind you with all the fires that we had last summer the last thing we were doing was opening windows) than when it gets warmer I like to turn on the air conditioning on and relax.

I dont have a ceiling fan in this house. I really do like them over a regular fan. Oh how I wish I had one. My husband is thinking about putting one in my kitchen and bedroom. I do have air conditioning but the fans help keep it even cooler.

you mean you both not satisfied with aircon thats why your husband want to put ceiling fan on your bedroom? is that it? or you want to put it so that if not that hot you will use the fan instead of aircon?

I actually use both during the heat of summer days. The air conditioner is in my living room window so I turn my dining room ceiling fan on to help circualte the air in the kitchen and dining room. Then I have a fan in my office doorway to draw the cool air into my office as I am on the computer. In the winter time I revers the ceiling fan to circulate the heat as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have a ceiling fan, but not a stand alone fan. I actually prefer the stand alone fan because it doesn't dry my eyes out. But if I did have a stand alone fan, I would be a little worried. My two dogs could easily knock it over.

Hello jHoEn!(",) We are using stand fans. I guess it's better because you can bring it anywhere in the house. I think it gives off much force of air than ceiling fan does. It's really hot these days that's why we keep the stand fans on overnight. Great day!(",)

Hello jHoEn16, I prefer to use a ceiling fan. I can't stand the cold and even though it is not that cold, it still can make me shiver sometimes. A normal stand fan is easier to use and can make us feel cooler but I still find a ceiling fan suits me better.

My brother-inlaw sleeps with a fan on all year around even in the winter months he will be wrapped up in a quilt but have a fan going. I htink it is because once you get used to the noise sometimes you cannot get to sleep without it. I know I did that once when I couldn't go to sleep unless I could hear the refrigerator kicked on and rumbling. Then I be asleep in a few moments. Well keep cool.

Hello jHoEn16, I never sleep without my blanket and my socks. Whether it is cold or hot, I still have them with me. One thing for sure, I still want to switch on the ceiling fan though it is cold. My son and hubby dominate the room. Two men and a woman... definitely I will lose out!

electric fan - great for the heatwave of summer!
I prefer the stand fan. Because you get to use it wherever you are. Unlike the ceiling fan which could not be transfered anywhere else. With the stand fan, you could get all the stand fans in the house and position them all to face you if it really gets very hot. While the ceiling fan will always be fixed. Plus of course, ceiling fans are attached to the ceiling. So when it's really hot, the air from the fan is usually hot too, because it is greatly affected by the hotness of the ceiling itself. As for the stand fans. If it really gets very hot. You can actually put ice in front of the fan and position it to blow the ice-cool air on you. Whew. =)
