For the past 6 months one of my cats has been licking off all the fur she can reach. She is a very nervous animal and at first I thought she had been doing it because a lot of things were changing around the house, but things have settled down and she is still pulling out her fur. She doesn't have fleas so I know that isn't the problem. Anyone have any insight into why she may be pulling out her fur?

She *might* be allergic to something. Things she might be allergic to can include a different cat litter, the stuff you use to mop the floor, maybe you frebreeze stuff alot and her skin is sensitive, etc... You should try to eliminate anything she could be allergic to and take her to the vet!!! Good luck

I would take her to the vet if I were y ou. She could have a skin condition or something. It could also be a reaction to stress like you said, I was home for about ayear, then I got a part-time job, and when I did my dog strted chewing the pads off of her feet, it was horrible, I would find piece of her pads on the floor and be like "What the heck is this?" I'd take a closer look and realize and then go check her paw and she would have these big raw spots where she tore the skin off. I called the vet and they told me that it was a reaction to anxiety over me leaving the house and that they were not suprised because my dog is so pendant spoiled and co-dependant and that all I could do is wait for her to adjust and stop it, or stay home so she wouldn't do it.

maybe she has somekind of skin infection. there are also moments when animals are stressed with something and are doing this with no obvious reason. and also maybe your cat have had fleas and your didnt notice, and now her fur starts to itch her. better consult your vet.
