My cat doesn't play well with others.

I share my house with three sweet kitties and for the most part they are all well behaved. Sometimes though my largest cat will pick on the other two cats. He is a nice cat and it seems like most of the time he just wants to get the other cats to play with him, but now he is starting to get way to aggressive towards the other two cats. Is there anyway I can make him settle down and behave himself? He is fixed so I don't believe that is the source of the problem.

I have two cats, one is about 7 and the other is just a kitten. The kitten is ALWAYS trying to get the older cat to play, but she is older and not quite as energetic. They fight and fuss about this, but nothing physical, just alot of fussing. They get along when the kitten justs wants to cuddle and hang out, but the older one just does'nt like to play as much. I have tried to discipline them (I use a spay bottle) into being nicer when it comes to this by spraying them both, but it has not done much. The younger cat is just realizing that the older cat doesnt want to play no matter how hard she tries. So as long as they do not get too physical, thigs will probably work themselves out. But to calm him down, use some catnip. :)

I like the spray bottle idea. My big kitty does get really physical when he's in one of his moods. He doesn't react very well to catnip. Instead of calming him down he starts running from room to room.

I wouldn't worry about it unless he is really hurting them. If he is I would try time outs, just like you would with a kid, it seems to work well with my dog anf cat, if they play too rough with each other I separate them and when they are being bad I will make them go into the spare room for a while to think about what they did wrong. It might sound a little off but it really does work.

Time outs sound like a good idea. I'll try that. I'm not sure it will work though since he isn't exactly the smartest cat out there. A time out might just make him angry at me too, but it's worth a try.

no, he is practicing his domination on smaller cats. my mom has 3 cats all of them diffenrent age, and the oldest one is the big guy. no other cat can do anything without his permission. but this kind of behavior is normal to every animal. in the wilderness where from are their genes, it is normal to behave like this. it is about surviving.

I understand that it is instinct, but I would still rather he didn't try to hurt my eldest cat. She is 12 years old and not in the best of health. I really don't want her to end up being bitten or clawed and ending up with an infected wound.
