Has anyone here switched from the old Sunbeam Mixmaster to the KitchenAid? I know in my culture, being part German and living in Canada, one of the traditional wedding gifts we used to receive was a Sunbeam Mixmaster and a waffle iron. The latter lasted until my husband got me a better one for Christmas soon after we married, but my Sunbeam died after a few years and until he got me the KitchenAid, I was using a wire whisk to beat egg whites. I was wary of using my new mixer for almost a year, until I decided to throw down the gaunlet and ever since, I have made Angel Food Cakes, meringues, puddings, cakes, cookies, and even some buns. So for those who switched, how did you make out? Did you wish, like me, that you had gotten it sooner?

I checked the prices on them, and even of mine, that is the basic model, it would be around $200, so you consider that my husband is not the generous type. Mind you I have enough Zeller points to order a new one, but this one has not broken down yet. I wouldn't mind one of the Profession series, but they run about $600 up here in Canada. I can always dream, can't I?

I've had a KitchenAid Mixer for a number of years now, and I couldn't do without it. It seems to mix things so much easier and faster than any mixer I've ever had. I think the Sunbeam and some of the others that have always been seen as better brands have "cheapened up" their mixers and I don't think they're as good as they once were.

The Sunbeam is not as good as it once was and even when it was like back in the fifties, it could not compare to KitchenAid, that was regarded when it came out as a professional mixer and when it was released to the households, they did not dumb it down and when I look on the food network, many of the cooks are not using the high end Kitchenaid mixer, but the kind we use in home, although the ones that make a lot like for thousands or ten thousand loaves of bread and heaving mixing will use the ones that lift up.
