i had my car looked at. the belt thing was tight and not releiving tention and something like that. (don't know much about cars) anyway just to fix that and taking a look at the car cost me 250$. plus they told me my shoks are gone and it would be 500 more. they said it's not a safety issue i can just leave it for now. my car isn't even worth that much. it's a 94 sunbird. anyway i just hope it lasts me another year until i'm done college and nothing else breaks on it in that time.

250? wow poppoppop111, too bad you don't live near us and that my husband had time. belts are nothing to fix. Not that I know how, I just know it is a minor repair, but I guess if you can't fix it yourself, then you have to pay someone else to..Maybe you can trade it in for something better? I am hoping to convince my husband to trade in our van, it is a gas hog and needs too much work..

It costs a lot to get cars fixed today no matter what is wrong with them. I have a 98 jeep cherekee and it needs a lot of work but I just can affort it and like you said the vehicle is not worth it. I am looking for another vehicle. I want another jeep but I do not want a new one because they are really priced high too. I think you may want to get a second opinion too some times men try to take advantage of woman. I worked in the auto repair business for a long time and you would not believe how many men would talk crap that a normal person can't understand. The woman would be so confussed she would just tell them to fix the car. I on the other hand stay right with them and make them tell me exactly what they are doing. Another thing always ask for your old parts. This way you know the parts are being changed out. I hope you get the car fixed with as little as possible out of pocket. Your luck has been going good and maybe you will luck into another car that doesn't cost alot. I know I am looking myself.

That totally sucks!! I am soo sorry!! I know how terrible it is when you get a huge surprise bill like that!! Especially when you don't have much money left after paying bills!! I hope your car makes it another year for you so you don't have any more problems with it!!

It's what I call another block in the road ahead. Keep moving forward and keep a positive outlook on it all and soon it will be done and over with and you'll find a good job and be able to afford something better. Good luck to you!
