how could some people eat dogs?

there was an article in one of the uk national papers... which showed terrible pictures of dogs being crammed into small cages
( and cats) they could not move.....in an open market... ready to be killed to eat..
i was so appalled ....at it all.....i was crying my heart out knwoing i could do nothing to help those poor cats and dogs......
do they eat cats and dogs in your country ...why ? and why keep them in such disgusting conditions....?

There are probably some people in my country that eat dogs, but I don't know anyone who does that. Why do you think eating dogs (or cats) is wrong? I don't eat them, but I don't see anything wrong with anyone else eating them, provided the animals weren't mistreated or stolen. All meat comes from animals, so why should eating one type of animal be more or less "wrong" than eating another type of animal?

the conditions were disgusting.... they were crammed into samll wire cages and could not move and were all lying down no top of each other as there was no room, they could not even bark....

to be honest i dont know, as soon as i seen the pictures... of those poor dogs in crates... outside a building ready to be killed with the look of dispair on their faces... i could not read the article.... but the people in the picture did look oriental... i think taiwan rung a bell.....
i am looking at my dog now who is sleeping on the sofa ..on his back with his legs in the air...and thinking if he was in a diff country he could end up in a crate waiting to be killed like those dogs in the picture.....
our dog sleeps on the bed... and has the run of the house.....
years ago i used to breed and show dogs.... andourselves and people we knew would never export a a dog for showing to certain countries.. just incase they ended up in the pot....

No Terry. They do not eat dogs just because they are poor.
I have a friend from China and he told me that dogs that are for eating in China are brewed different from other dogs. The meat from dogs is kind of expensive so most of the people in China do not eat dogs.
I personally think that eating dogs is no more different from eating any kind of meat, but people still do eat meat. If one dog is killed to be served as a meal, how come it is different if you kill a chicken or even a fish. People are so destructive, and do not appreciate life.
P.S. I never tasted dog meat and never will. I love my dogs and any dogs or cats. I appreciate life in any form it comes.

it is good for people to protect from cold in winter, so many people in my city eat dogs in winter.
but i dont eat dogs, i cant do it. why some people eat beef, mutton and pork? sometimes we have to eat meat for living.

maybe the article you read is about some cities in my country,Indonesia. In Manado ,and Sumatra some people are eat dogs.huhuh...=( i'm so sad to hear and know bout this since i'm dog lover and i have 2. I was imagining that my dogs are treated like that. I saw once at tv about this and i was cry! don't they have other animals to be eaten or why don't they just eat pork or beef like others?
in those 2 cities i mentioned above they also eat Bats and Rats!! can you imagine that?

its sad but it is the reality,there are people that still eats dogs.like here in my country people still do that even it is against the law.here in my country especially in the mountain side where the climate is cold, people normally eat dog to warm their body.

In China, even in the northern, many people like eating dogs and cats. They usually think them are very delicious.
I love dogs. But I even have once ate a dog when I was a child.I don't think that tasted good. I can not understand why so many people like eating dogs. It is terrible and awful.

All I can say about that is different culture, different food involved. It is like us American eating Shrimp, I don't think a country that doesn't eat shrimp would find that appealing either. That is just the way it goes sometimes.

I personally love dogs and would not imagine ever eating one for that matter. Although I know that there are some cultures that do. I guess it could be considered on the same level for vegiterians who look at other people and wonder how they could eat beef,pork,chickens or lamb etc.
the conditions on how they are kept and slaughterd are really no different. Mayway just my thought.
