Depends on their ages really I have eighteen nieces and nephews. We really only buy for our godchildren but their are some I buy for because I am close to them. I have an 9 year old niece that is verrryyyy girly girl. I have bought her things like clear lip gloss or pastel colored nail polish, kits at Joannes or Michaels to make jewely, photo frames, scrapbooks and also at Joannes I buy for my other 9 year old niece claymation kits, she loves animals so they are kits that you use the clay to make little animals and then you use the oven to bake the clay, there are also sun catcher kits that you also bake in the oven. Most of the kits I buy range from $10 to $15 dollars because there are always coupons out their to use. My other niece is 11 and a total tomboy so for her and two of my 11 year old nephews I have bought razor scooters ($20) outdoor games like hand toss games or hover discs. For my older nephews I buy mostly clothes because I feel that is what they need however I have bought video games, and for my 16 year old nephew I have bought him cologne, a radio for the shower and window shades for his new car. For really young children toys are always fun to give if it is a toy you think is neat, they probably would to. Depends how much money you want to spend but even the little toys can be alot of fun. My two year got a little vacuum cleaner and loves it or she was given a little ride on toy not an expensive one but she loves it and loves putting things in the little compartment. Or if you think the kids have too many toys something for their room a pillow or a blanket of a character they love or maybe a movie they don't have is also a great idea I can't tell you how many times I have watched Monsters Inc in the last three days:) When my one godson was little I use to take him to KBtoys and pick out something from what I could afford or when he was about 7 or 8 I would take him out to a movie and make him feel really special for the day. If you have specific ages let me know I will see what other ideas.

I usually just buy them a toy or a video that I think they'd like. Right now, most of my nieces and nephews are so young, it's pretty easy to buy them something semi-random. My eldest nephew's getting old enough that he can start making a list of what he wants. For Christmas, he went through a Target catalog and circled the things he wanted. Soon, he'll be able to write out lists.

I have a niece that will be having her Sweet 16 birthday later on this month; I had considered sending her some money because she had told me that she had wanted to get a digital camera and perhaps I can put money towards that goal. I am usually a gift certificate type of girl, or money, can't go wrong with that. But if I know that there's something in particular that a person wants, I make an effort to get it for them.

In fact, what i do is, consider their age, the season, occasion, their interest and finally the weight of my pocket. if they are small, i may buy some toys, that's if they have some interest in toys. birthdays, i may buy clothes or footwear. etc

It depends on their interests. I always ask their parents what they're into at the moment and go from there. If I don't know or can't find anything, I give cash. That way they can buy what they want.

It depends on how old they are. For very young children I like to give educational gifts, things they can play with but also learn from. If they are a lot older like teenagers I'd give them a gift card to their favorite store so they can pick out what they want. Sometimes it's hard to shop for people and I like to give practical gifts that I know they are going to use.
