No, they are not. From what I know, stress is something that maybe brought about by external and internal factors (people and environment and the person himself). When a person is depressed, he starts thinking negatively, feels lonely and sad all the time and even do not eat meals because he has no appetite.

Stress is forces from the outside world converging at once to make you feel overwhelmed and worried. Depression is when you are affected body, mind and mood and thoughts from different reasons such as stress, a chemical imbalance of the brain, a traumatic experience. If depression becomes severe you can have body aches, lethargy and so on. If you continue to be in a high stress situation depression will most likely set in. It is linked as a cause for depression, but not the same. I hope this helps!

in my terms stress mean to have a perticular problem and a given time but youre strong enough to overcome it but depress me to take it to another limit by constansly thinking out till it becomes part of your daily thinking and because like a disease. That's my defination of it. The professional defination Description Stress in humans results from interactions between persons and their environment that are perceived as straining or exceeding their adaptive capacities and threatening their well-being. The element of perception indicates that human stress responses reflect differences in personality, as well as differences in physical strength or general health. Risk factors for stress-related illnesses are a mix of personal, interpersonal, and social variables. These factors include lack or loss of control over one's physical environment, and lack or loss of social support networks. People who are dependent on others (e.g., children or the elderly) or who are socially disadvantaged (because of race, gender, educational level, or similar factors) are at greater risk of developing stress-related illnesses. Other risk factors include feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, extreme fear or anger, and cynicism or distrust of others. Causes and symptoms The causes of stress can include any event or occurrence that a person considers a threat to his or her coping strategies or resources. Researchers generally agree that a certain degree of stress is a normal part of a living organism's response to the inevitable changes in its physical or social environment, and that positive, as well as negative, events can generate stress as well as negative occurrences. Stress-related disease, however, results from excessive and prolonged demands on an organism's coping resources. Depression Definition When discussing depression as a symptom, a feeling of hopelessness is the most often described sensation. Depression is a common psychiatric disorder in the modern world and a growing cause of concern for health agencies worldwide due to the high social and economic costs involved. Symptoms of depression, like the disorder itself, vary in degree of severity, and contribute to mild to severe mood disturbances. Mood disturbances may range from a sudden transitory decrease in motivation and concentration to gloomy moods and irritation, or to severe, chronic prostration.

When you are "stressed" over something it doesnt mean you are down or glum...you're overwhelmed with things but are able to cope, function, act/react etc However stress CAN lead to depression...With depression you are sad constantly or at least majority of the time and you have that hopeless/helpless feeling over life and are unable to cope, function, act/react etc...

i don't think they are same. when i feel stressed then i can work hard to solve it. i'm the person, when i am in a poor situation, then i will be more calm, and actively to solve it. i dont' fear stress. sometimes i need stress to make me work hard. when i feel depressed, then i will listen to music, or go shopping, but i can't get myself out of being depressed. it is at the bottom of my heart, and sometimes i will ignore it.

no they are not the same. sTRESS UIS A BIOLOGICAL RESPONSE TO SITUATIONS WE FIND OPURSELF IN. An example of stress can be seen in the adrenalin release during the fight or flight response to fear. Depression, on the other hand is a physical illness whereby the bodys systems do not operate at maximum efficiency. One symptom of this is the lowering of endorphine production in the brain which means we can feel no pleasure blessed be
