And what are the hidden gems of the world? Stonehenge, Times Square, the Pyramids and the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain are among the most disappointing tourist spots, according to a survey of over 1,000 Britons. The report, commissioned by Virgin Travel Insurance, found that many of the world's most iconic attractions often led to a sense of anticlimax when seen in real life, spoilt by crowds and hawkers. The Eiffel Tower topped the list of disappointing spots abroad, followed by the Louvre and Times Square. Stonehenge, the Angel of the North and the Blackpool Tower were named the most disappointing in the UK. Do famous attractions often disappoint when you get to see them? What would be your alternative list of top attractions? Do you agree with these findings?
