is the current education system totally based on marks?

thomas alva edison was an average studwent during his student life. his teachers expected nothing from him but he later on changed the way we used to perceive education. if he haden't invented the light bulb we would have still been reading in candels. this really proves my point that marks don't matter what do you have to say on that.

Here in Texas there is a lot of talk every year about the standardized tests that the kids have to take during school. If they fail they can not graduate. So it often seems that students are being taught to the test and not the subject matter. There are too many hours spent preparing for these tests and not enough on learning the subjects.

They have become to focused on the grades. They no longer teach what could actually be useful in life.
