just say "no" to rebates

I am absolutely furious. I purchased a product with two rebates offered, and sent for both of them. One never came, and I repeatedly got jerked around by the phone help line. I emailed for help, and instead of mailing me my rebate, they misunderstood, and stopped payment on my first rebate check. Now I am out a bounced check fee and I still don't have my missing rebate. On another occasion, I my rebate was denied because I accidentally used a P.O. Box instead of a street address, and all attempt to correct the problem failed. Rebates are a huge scam. Manufacturers deliberately make the process as complicated as possible, in the hope that the rebate will induce you to buy the product, but you'll never actually get around to applying for the rebate. or will fail to meet some of the requirements. I propose a nationwide boycott of products offering rebates. If everyone refused to buy these products, manufacturers would be forced to attract buyers by lowering their prices. Don't we all have too much to do to hassle with this nonsense? Please join me in this endeavor, and email the manufacturer and let them know you're boycotting their products!
