If you found a large sum of money would you hand it in or keep it?

I know that if you find a large sum of money and you hand it in, after a certain amount of time if no one comes forward to claim it then you get to keep it, but can't the police officer just organize for one of his friends or family members to come forward and pretend it's their money, and then the officer and that person will dishonestly share the money?????

no, i don't hand it in. just keep it and go away. when i was a kid, i took some amount of money on the street in my pocket, then i thought my parents must be happy, because my family was very poor at that time, but my parents asked me where i found it, and let me take them there. it was a cold winter, we waited for over 2 hours there, but no one came back to find it. then my parents took the money to the police, but the policeman asked my parents and me lots of questions. because they didn't think i picked it. He thought i stolen it, because my family was poor. haha, is it funny?

I would be really tempted to keep it, because I have never found anything...If it had id with it I would hand it in but if not i would hold on to it for a little bit.

For myself I would still turn it in if it is obtained by someone else dishonestly I know I will still sleep at night knowing I did the right thing regardless of the outcome. My husband says I'm too honest. I say that's not possible.

I feel the same way but at the same time; it's common knowledge that most of the police force are corrupt and dis-honest, so i'd rather keep it then have them claim it for themselves.
