Durian is an exotic fruit that mainly grows in Davao, it is tagged with the phrase " Smells like hell but taste like heaven". Why? because it has a strong smelling fragrant that sticks in your body or in your hand whenever you touch it. BUT, it taste so good especially the durian cake. To be honest, I am not a durian "fan" before, how I hate the smell. But after eating the durian cake, WOW..it changed my whole perspective about the fruit. So when you are in the Philippines and you have some free time, drop by in Davao City and try the durian fruit, or any of the durian candies/tarts and don't forget the durian cake and you would not regret any of your exotic eating experience.

That's ok, we have our own preferences of types of food. I never liked the smell, but the products out of durian are SSOOO GOOD :).

Just a light smell that you can identify that its durian. It's really good, I'll vouch my name for that. I've tried eating that in Davao Insular Hotel (this is a nice hotel too).

I like both the durian fruit itself and durian cake. Durian ice-cream also tastes nice.

I love durian in every form of it...durian meat fresh from the fruit, durian candy, durian ice cream, durian popsicles, durian shake, durian tart, durian yema...and probably durian cake. Unfortunately, I haven't tried durian cake yet. But its a good idea to try it too.

You bet michecu, it's a good idea. Here's the place where i've tried it: Waterfront Insular Hotel (sometimes called as Davao Insular Hotel), Lanang Davao City.

So far I agree with the saying that durian smells like hell but I'm still reconciling with the thought that it tastes like heaven. I tried it a lot of times with the intention of finding the "heavenly taste" but the last time I tried to eat it I had a hard time pushing it down. But then I love the taste in fruit shakes and candies, it's more welcome in my palate that way. Still I'd love to taste that durian cake you're talking about. My sister will go to Davao in October and I would know what to ask her as present when she comes back. Marang and durian cake!
