Do you hate buying the same thing more than once?

I do not like having to buy the same thing twice, especially if I know it's only going to get messed up again so easily. What a waste of money! How about you? Do you ever buy the same thing more than once, because the original got misplaced or broken? How many times have you purchased the same thing before you just gave up and stopped buying it?
This past year, my daughter asked for a deck of cards so I obliged and bought them for her. Trouble is, she's not old enough to know how to take care of them, so now they are scattered throughout the house. And, last week she wanted another deck of kids playing cards. So, instead of searching the house to find all the cards from the original set, I bought her a second set.
During the past three years, we have owned six DVD players, totaling well over $200. And, somehow each one has been broken through mysterious forces. One was broken when my daughter lodged a crayon inside the DVD player. And, another one broke, because a disc slipped out of the player inside and when we took the top off to retrieve it, the DVD player just stopped working right.
What a waste! How often do you spend money replacing things you have previously purchased?

If only there was a way to child proof DVD players! With me, it is answering machines. I don't have caller ID, and I can't afford it anyway. So I bought a 10 dollar answering machine at Target. It was very basic, but it worked fine for me. Until my dogs got a hold of it. It wasn't on the floor, but the dogs chewed through the cords behind it. I need to get another one, and I think the dogs are old enough to not chew on it, but I don't want to waste another ten dollars. It's a small amount of money, but with my limited income, it is important that THIS answering machine is a keeper.

I've heard that you can get a free voice mail account online. Just go to yahoo.com and enter, "Free voice mail" and you should be able to find one for your area. There's lots of free stuff you can get online that works just as well as the paid version.

I buy decks of cards whenever I see them on a clearance--- you can never have too many decks of cards. Plus we use them a lot- friends over to play- and they wear out quickly. I don’t mind buying things like this over and over-
DVD players—I had a couple crap the bed—then I went and bought a good one- It has worked for 3 + years- Sometimes you just need to spend the extra cash to get a better quality. And keep your kids and their crayons away from them! : )

Remote controls are the one thing we are always replacing. My husband loses them, and my son chews on them. We have 5 tv's in our house, too, so I guess that doesn't make it any easier to keep track of them.
My son surprisingly has never broken a DVD player. The one in his room, I got when I was still in high school (Maybe in 2000?). Maybe they were built better back then. He has torn the part that covers the slot when a tape isn't inside the VCR off of the one in his room. We haven't replaced it, though. He doesn't watch movies in his room very often, except his Elmo DVD's.
