Sultans of swing

I just learned how to play it on my guitar and solo is absolutely intoxicating!
I really love playing it, but I can't manage to play it with a pick, I must play it with my fingers (like the original dire straits guitar player plays).
Did anyone manage to play it with a pick?

Playing Sultans of Swing with a pick would be like giving a tongue bath to an earthworm. Sure, it can be done, but it would just be sick and wrong! ;~D

Oh I love that song, I wish I was that good to play like Mark Knopfler! I just haven't sat down long enough to learn and play it! But he has a unique way of playing!

I have tried several times to pick up the full lead, but was not successful. However, I'm just crazy about this number.
