Types of cars people drive - what about you

There are so many differrent cars, each chosen for a different reason. Some for colour, size, speed and other aesthetics ands some for fuel economy and safety. This topic however is not about cars but rather about whether or not people read the title or actually read the discussion. In just about all of my discussions, I get people - usually regulars who are very on topic - and of course, like me ramble - and then there are those who only read the title. So my question for this discussion is what did you do on Sundays as a child and what do you do now? Weekends are important around here - the only times we really see my husband as he works nights. So whatever we do, we're generally together - unless my husband goes grocery shopping. As a kid on day a weekend - I think Saturdays were for major house cleaning which my mom and brother and I all did together to loud music - not rock and roll or metal. Though usually Saturday - sometimes this was Sunday -and since we all pitched in it was done more quickly then if only one of us did it. Sometimes we would spend the day in Georgetown, just looking at all the shops - like the christmas shop. What about you?

On Sundays, we usually went to Church in the morning. We went to the United Church and in the afternoons, we went to Stanley Park. In the evenings, we went to evening services. Now I go to Church in the morning and the afternoon. In evenings, we stay at home, unless it is a birthday, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Christmas, Easter, in which we go out for supper. Our favorite restaurant is the Olive Garden. Now if we are on holidays, we usually visit our relatives. Saturday when I was a child, it was clean the house day or fixing up the garden. Now Saturdays, it is do what I do the rest of the time, or go to the Mall or go out. Now about the car: Intrepid. All paid for.

Funny how you answered to a the car thing too! You didn't have to but its like a bonus for me. I love Olive Garden too. My husband and I like going out to eat and can't wait 'till we can go at least once a week again. Do you like your church schedule now - slightly shifted around?

Ah, clever! Making sure people are paying attention, I like! Anyways, I don't have much of a routine on weekends now. Sometimes I go to my friends/sisters (They stay in the same apartment complex) with the kids and get away from the house. When I lived with my great-grandmother, who is now passed, my weekends were very routine. On Saturday, I would get up, fix two bowls of cereal (one for myself, and one for my little brother) I'd watch cartoons until about 11 or 12, then I would start my cleaning routine. I would clean the bathroom first, from top to bottom, excluding the tub because that always got cleaned as soon as the person got out of it. Then I would clean the dishes in the kitchenette, and scrub the floor with a brush (It was easier than mopping because it got really dirty in there, plus I didn't mind the brush because it was very small. After doing that, I would dust the tables and lamps in the living room. Then I would set the coctail table on the couch and vaccuum. Finally I was done and ready to go to the library or the park. On Sunday we really didn't do much. My grandmother would always cook. And this was the only day we were allowed to listen to the popular radio station after "Talking Straight with Edna Howell" went off. The other six days of the week we would listen to the jazz station, WNOP. My little brother and sister would play outside in the courtyard, and I would either be at the library, or in the house watching movies on the VCR.

Hecky naw I don't like cleaning lol. But *sigh*, its got to be done. When this was going on I was just budding into teenhood myself. My situation was a little different because at the time, I had not been taught a cleaning routine really, and my Grandmother was "disabled" (Meaning she had diabetes, took care of herself well, but since she had kids in the house she wasn't doing it lol) So, being the oldest, I got stuck with it.

Sounds like your childhood was like my teenager hood when the cleaning fell to me as my mom worked hard. For me it gave me a love of clean space but not of cleaning. What about you - do you like cleaning now? Eitherwise it sounds like you had a relaxing and - clean - weekend.

We did the same. We cleaned on Saturdays...and went to town and got groceries. Sundays we went to church and Sunday school and went to visit the grandparents. It was all about family!
