Do You Sell Avon? Did You Start During a Promotion?

I have recently been considering joinging Avon. I have heard from a few of my friends that it's pretty good because if you don't make any sales you won't make any money but you won't get fired or anything either so there is really no stress there. In our local paper I saw an ad in saying that if you join Avon in September that you will get $100 worth of free products. My question is this, to anyone who joined Avon during usch a promotion: Do they just give you $100 gift certificate? Or do you pick from a specific selection of products? Do you get this simply from joining or do you have to make a certain amout of sale before you get your free products? I think that I would be pretty good at Avon but I think it will take me a while to build a client base and I am hoping they just give you the free products with no strings attached, but that seems unlikely, because if that was the case everyone would be an Avon member just to get the free stuff. Can someone please let me know how this works?

That's probably just someone in your district trying to get more recruits. I'm sure you have to be successful to get the free products, like sell over $150 for at least the first 4 campaigns (which is every two weeks) But you'd have to ask them what the stipulations are. Avon doens't offer stuff like that, just the person wanting recruits and who will pay for the items you get. She will probably let you choose whatever you want totalling $100.

Actually i called a girl I know in town that used to sell Avon and she sai it is Avon that does the promotion but htat you DO NOT get to pick the products and that they are intended to get you started so you have some stock. She also told me you have to pay for 10 books every 2 weeks and at that rate you pay for the products you get for free in 10 months and that if you do not seel enough it is really more of a pian than a help. Due to the fact that i don't drive and I live in the sticks I am going to leave Avon alone for now because I can't get far to get customers and would have difficulty trying to deliver to even my family and friends and none of them really live on my road.

I think with your knowledge in beauty, you would do great in Avon and Avon has nice products! We don't have that membership around here and I don't really know how it all works. But I heard someone making so much money with Mary Kay *laughs*. Wish you all the success if you join!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I only wish I had gotten my liscense so I could try it out, but from what i've heard lately with the cost of the catalogues, I could end up going in the hole if I can't build a client base quick enough. Maybe I'll leanr to drive in the next year and I'll give it a try after that.

My mum sells Avon, she has been doing it for many years now. She enjoys it and has moved up along the way and gets a better comition rate than when she first started.... She receives free products from time to time which is I think to help her with business and to give her some incentive.... If you are interested than give it a go and try and build up a client base, do letter box drops etc. Not every body will be interested but you will find a select few that are and than they wil tell friends etc... Leave on or a few in a business and collect orders through there, speak with people about it and see what you can and can't to get business... People need to start somewhere and it is generally at the bottom and you work your way up...... Good Luck if you decide to go ahead with it.....

$100 worth of free products??!! WOW, that's great!! I started selling Avon at the end of May and so far so good but I didn't join under a promotion. I'm going to assume that your District Manager is running the promotion herself to get more people to join her downline because i've never heard of an offer like that but if I was you then I would jump on it. Selling Avon is like running your own business and you get out of it what you put into it. I know a few people that did REALLY well selling Avon and others that didn't do so well. I'm still learning the tricks of the trade but I enjoy selling it. I'm not making enough money to quit my full-time job but it's a fun way to make a little extra money on the side. www.youravon.com/mmantuano

It sounds like a great deal but I guess you don't get to pick the products. :( I have decided that I am not mobil enough to do it right now anyhow, I live in a very rural area and do not have transportation. I am going to try to focus on things I can do from home without making deliveries.
