That was interesting. I rarely shop at the dollar stores and, when I do, I never get anything t o eat (which they said was actually OK) or medications etc. I may buy some greeting cards or a few little stocking stuffers but otherwise, not much so it won't hurt my shopping habits. My older sister shops there all the time and she buys gifts for everyone at dollar stores. I hate to say it but I can't stand when she buys me 15 dollar store gifts for my birthday! lol. Thanks for this info. I'll pass in onto both sisters who shop a lot at dollar stores. I really hope they don't buy vitamins or whatever there. Ack. That is just too risky.

I feel you have to watch what you buy at the dollar store. Look at the tooth paste they recalled that had the colgate brand but was manufractured in Africia it had shards of glass in it. I feel with lead in so much paint we have to be careful what type of dishes we buy at the dollar store. I know the food that is frozen sold at the dollar store comes from stores that their trucks did not keep the food at a certain tempertaure. I know this because my son in-law use to drive truck and if he had a load of food that the freezer on the tuck did not work corrcetly the seller would sell it to the dollar store. I feel people could get sick. I will not buy anything perishable from there.

I do shop there often. I used to buy toothpaste until that news came out. I love to stop in there and pick up things just so I don't have to go to the bigger stores.

I do not buy food and medicine. I buy greeting cards decorative stuff, but I am always careful about products that I have to ingest or use on my body so I just don't even waste time purchasing those.

What a waste of time! After paging forward about 6 times I found nothing that I would consider a danger or change my shopping habits. Commonsense has me checking expiration dates on products no matter where I buy them.

This is a great article, and I hope a lot of people read it. It won't influence my purchases at the dollar stores though. The things they warned about buying, I never buy. I kinda wonder about someone who would buy vitamins ar a dollar store anyway (no offense anyone). They even suggest it is good to buy food at the dollar stores, but I won't do that. I'm always afraid it will be stale. But I DO know someone who has purchases Christmas lights at a store such as this, and I will be careful about telling them they might want to think twice about it.

I hardly shop at the Dollar Store and certainly not for shampoos nor containers. What I usually buy is a tray or some paper or a notebook. I would rather go to a regular store and pay a little more and know what I am getting rather than go to somewhere where I am not sure of what is in it or how old it is. We have a dollar store in the Mall and there are loads of people trying to shop for bargains and since it does not accept credit cards nor debit payments, I wonder about all those people being in danger of getting robbed.
