California Infant Dies After Mom Uses Meth Pipe Swab to Clean His Nose

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,295585,00.html I wonder what the cause of death was…seems weird that a cotton ball with resin on it would kill the baby. I’m thinking bleeding on the brain from the fractured skull sounds more like the cause of death. Then, I’m no doctor. Either way, it’s a shame CPS couldn’t have stepped in earlier and taken the baby before he died. Um, was she not tested for drugs after the birth of her baby? Meth users look like meth users. I hate to say it, but they do!

I felt the mother was so careless.i mean how could she not check the swab before using it?? i dunno wats happening to parents these days,every ohher day we hear heart breakng stories involving little ,gullible, kids

Government agencies are so overloaded with cases, that they really need people to be vigilant. Someone had to see how the woman was, and had to realize it wasn't safe for the baby. Authorities depend on these people to keep their eyes open. Neighbors, family, whomever, it is just a shame. It IS solely the mom's fault, but I feel like someone else might have taken the easy way out by not getting involved. As for testing after the birth, I think they have to have a court order. At least around here they do.
