Do you use a knife or a scraper when taking the skin off a potatoe?

if i can't find peeler, then i will use a metal spoon. i must to say it is useful. but first, you have to put the potatoes in a pot with water, then it is easily to peel potatoes. of course, if you have a peeler, it is more useful, but if your kid want to peel potatoes for you, then give him/her a metal spoon. it will not hurt him/her.

I use a peeler. I think it wastes less of the potato than a knife, and is probably safer. I think it is easier to use, too.

Ouch! That sounds downright painful! I guess it is a good idea to throw away a peeler that starts to perform badly. It probably got worn out or something. I had no idea that peelers can peel of skin, but I guess they aren't exactly discerning about what they peel off. A peeler with an anti-skin-peeling device would be nice, but that could end up being rather expensive technology.

The last time i used a peeler for that,i took a nice piece of skin with it.lol.Probably because it was a cheap peeler that always turned directions of the blade. It went in the garbage!:)

I use as a peeler. I had a hard time finding one that worked. At first I used an ordinary chrome peeler, but it rusted. Then I got one of those fancy peelers, but it did not work because it was designed for righties, so I got a stainless steel peeler, have had it for a couple of years. Because most of the peelers were designed for right handed peelers, I learned to peel towards me, and even though there are peelers with the blades sharpened on both ends, I still use it that way. However, I have no decided not to peel potatoes until I finished cooking them. I then drain them in the sink, run cold water over them, and the skin comes off just like that.

Hi there. I find it really handy and quick to peel potatoes with a potato peeler, as these little gadgets can be used to peel almost anything and are very very affordable to have if you dont have one...

I always get my boyfriend to peel the potatoes, because I suck at it and find it too time consuming =P He uses a standard old potato peeler and a knife to scrape out any of the dirt and holes that the peeler can't handle =D

Peeler. - Used to take off skins of fruits, vegetables and sude for shredding as well.
I use peeler, someimtes a pearing knife. It depends on what shape I'd prefer on my potatoes, I'd rather use a pearing knife if I want my potatoes round-shaped. I was taught to use a knife, but I use mostly peelers because it's much easy to use and makes work faster..

I have a really sharp knife that is almost like a boning knife. It works great for potatoes and block cheese. AT PEACE WITHIN ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I prefer to do it with a scraper because with a kinfe is more difficult and the skin is too much thick. So you throw away a big part of the potato.

Thankyou for asking pyewacket! Its doing good, still a little tender to step on so im still hobling around a bit.It hasnt stopped me from doing my daily routines though.Im tougher than i thought. But i have to be careful where i put my foot down because there seems to be quite a bit of dog bones and little toys on the floor that im always prone to step on and i dont feel for that right now.Giv me couple more days and i will be doing the jigg!lol.

I usually use a potato/vegetable peeler, but I seem to have misplaced it, so I use a knife now. Unfortunately I'm not used to it, so I end up losing more potato than I would like sometimes.

I use a potato peeler. Doing it with a knife isn't all that great. I trust the peeler a bit more when making my potato pancakes.

I use a scraper to take the peel off a potatoe.A knife can't so sometimes.Because some potatoes's skin are easily to take off.But one certain kind of potatoe's skin is hard to get rid of.So we can use a scraper.
