"I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar"

I hope I do not offend anyone, but I believe in what I am about to say. If you are a feminist, do forgive and have mercy on me. After all, my mother was an ordained minister.
Anyway, while growing up, I would often hear women comment that the Bible spoke only to men and did not include the woman. Man shall not live by bread alone... God made man in his image... Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.
I have since learned and accepted that the definition of a woman is a man with a womb. How does that sit with you? Remember, I begged for mercy.

I think that it includes women. But I think that there are a lot of problems within the Christian faith. Namely, that it is a patriarchal society. (It teaches that men are superior to women.)
I am a feminist too -- so I take lightly some of the teachings of the Bible. I am Christian, but I am also a rebel *with* a cause. ;)

I was brought up in a Southern Baptist church where they tend to believe that women are inferior to men. I never believed all that because women are important to survival and humanity. I was kind of a rebel in that church with some of my opinions, and I was never willing to believe that I had to bow down to any man. My husband and I treat each other as equals.

I see it this way, both men and women have very separate rolls to play. There are things that men were designed to do and women can not do. There are also things that women were designed to do that men can't do. I say that there is very little to compare between a man and woman.
I do not want to be a man and I do not want to act like one or be treated like one. I do not want to compete with them on any level. I am a woman and I enjoy my soft satin-like femininity

Well said, Rozie. You are very right. I don't want to be a man either, and I don't expect to be treated as one, but I do want to have respect from male counterparts. I relish the things that women can do, and appreciate all the same what a man can do.

I look at women as being the most important part of human survival, we are the machine that makes the man, I think women were given this job because they are the strongest in heart and more loving so that makes woman the most important of all...

I could care less what others say about ''man this' or 'woman that'. The Bible applies to all and God is God to all. Man is no better than woman and vice versa. These are only descriptor terms that seperate one from the other. The term man and woman are not true definitions of a person. The spirit (or real you) has no gender. I often wonder if any woman had a hand in writing the BiBle. I am not generally a student of this book, but still believe in many of its teachings. Especially anything that adds to my being and life on earth.

I do know some people who would argue with you about a woman being silent in the church, etc. I believe we are entitled to our own thoughts however. I do believe that God uses women in the ministry as well as a man. I persoanlly know women who are as strong or stronger than a lot of men. I had never heard that definition before, but I like it. It is fitting for a lot of women I know. I beleive the Bible speaks to BOTH men and women. Your phrase "I am woman, hear me roar" made me smile when I thought of a Maxine refrigerator magnet my daughter bought for me a few years ago, it says "I am woman, watch me ignore". We women do stand up for ourselves, most of us do anyway. But I believe God loves us equally. I have certain views of how I think God wants us women to behave and the roles He wants for us women to be in, but I also know we all think differently and this is a touchy subject with some folks. I will follow your comments on this discussion, that's for sure my friend. Have a terrific weekend :)

I would have to say that I am old-fashioned in the sense that I want to live my life exactly the way the Bible says that a woman should. I do not think that a woman is less than a man. A man can be the head, but the woman is the neck that turns it.
Time virtuous woman of Proverbs 31 was extraordinary. That is the kind of woman that I want to be. I don't mind speaking in the church, but I also want to keep my man strong. I have a kind of subserviant attitude when it comes to being a wife. Kind like Sarah, the way she called Abraham lord.
I know some women will read this and want to hunt me down, but that is the kind of wife that I want to be.

Rozie you are a wonderful woman, your husband is so blessed to have you for a wife. I'm sure he knows this too. I was this way with my ex husband, but he didn't appreciate it. I suffered his emotional abuse for over 24 years, then I started to fight back. I am remarried now, and my husband knew about my liver cancer BEFORE we entered into any kind of relationship, so he knew what he was getting into. But we are equals, he never treats me like I am a servant and I know my duties as a wife. But all my life all I wanted to do was be a wife and a mom. I am honestly so contented with that role. I love to keep my house in order and take care of my man and my family and do it with a loving attitude and heart. I'm not saying that the women who believe differently are wrong, I'm saying for me that I am ok with serving my husband and being the Proverbs wife. This is a great discussion by the way :)

I agree with you,we are man with a womb..WOMAN..and though we are all equal in God's eyes, we have each different role and different purpose to live for.
I know that in the Bible,God used men mostly but there are also important woman that was mentioned like Esther,Deborah and others..and God until now uses woman..like your mother..right?

Women obviously do not see child birth as a big deal any longer. I believe that God saved the best role for the woman. He shared the creation process with us. What can a man do that is greater than that. I guess because I have never experienced it, it is still quite amazing to me.
