When is/are the best day/time to start a new discussion?

Does anyone know? I'm trying to figure out when the best day/time to start a discussion is? Sometimes I think I'm picking bad days to start them. We don't know how many people are on and when. Do you have better luck on some days or times than others? I think probably evenings are best, but I don't know. What do you think?

Honey I would suggest not too worried about the time! It's a mix of different people from different countries around here and we have too many different times going on at the same time (your nights could be my mornings). I would say if you want to post something here, just post it and it will all be fine. Because I usually dig out old interesting discussions in my friends' list for others to catch up and enjoy *laughs*.

*laughs* My first language is Cantonese (living in Hong Kong) and I read Chinese. But English has really been my favourite, I still have got a lot to learn because sometimes when people say something, I don't really understand! *smiles* I guess learning a language is a really life process! I plan to have one featured friend every week to dig out his/ her old discussion! And I think it's been really fun so far because I am amazed how many good discussions I have missed! I am glad that it's working for you too! *Laughs* I see that you have been digging mine! Thanks a lot to put them back in life!

Yes, I wish more people were like you, then time wouldn't really matter. I can't get over how much better your English has gotten. I'm forgetting sometimes that it's not your first language. I've started taking your advice and reading through my friend's posts. Lately, the new posts range from doing nothing for me to being downright upsetting. But your idea to look at old posts from friends has been my saving grace. Thank you very much. You're very dear!

I can't really say, to be honest. I live in Australia, so if I state a time, it will be different to many others, what with time differences and all =P I find that it doesn't really matter what time I start my discussions, if they are interesting then they will attract viewers and comments, I suppose =D It does seem to me that I get most of my responses around 3am Australian time, so it might be the morning or early evening in the US? Hope this was remotely helpful *blush* Mal. =]

Well, G'day! How are things down there? I guess if I just kept a chart and noticed the times people are more likely to respond, then I could figure this out. I guess I don't really notice what time(s) people are responding. I have enough responses, I could chart it. You've got me thinking. I'm not remotely math-minded, so like, duh, I should have thought of this. Thanks!

=D You're most welcome. I only notice, because I usually start discussions between 10pm and 1am, before I go to bed, and when I get up at 8am, the majority if my responses are from '6 hours ago' and onwards. Have fun with your chart-making =D

I would say when your mind is more alert and you can think of what things to say, and write them in more than two or three sentences. Of course, if you write, those times correspond with the time you are writing your great American novel or in my case, great Canadian novel which is not a great Canadian novel because it does not have the elements of much snow, hockey, curling, and vast outdoors in the Prairies. Mind you if you want to make money, I would say go to myLot anytime you get a chance and type like fury. I do like evenings, but it will be hard once the fall season has started. So I will have to time it during the programs from hell, but when it comes to ten pm afterwards, my mind is too tired to really think of something to talk about.

I know what you mean. Once I thought I had a really good post that would get a lot of responses. You were the only one who replied. Some of your posts I'm not sure what I would answer when i first read it. I think I am going to think harder for the opening topic line!!

That's why I either write a bunch of questions or a paragraph to help people. Some topics I don't expect too many responses from, but at least one or two. Like most people don't celebrate the equinoxes or solstices or full moons, but some people celebrate or do something special for at least one of them. Sometimes I want very specific people, like I wanted gatherers and to find out who here is or to find the people who believe in Shamanism. But with 106,994 people who supposedly belong and write here, no matter what you write, you would think you would find one kindred soul, wouldn't you?

P. S. I've tried to write a longer, or more descriptive question before and I run out of room. So I have to cobble it up to something that isn't exactly what I wanted sometimes.

Since mine all go 'thud' I will watch this discussion and learn... I usually go to my friends' discussions in my emails when I first come online, then check the top discussions and hot topics on my home page... since these are posted at varied times all through the day, I'm not sure when you post is as important as WHAT you post!

I'll post and then the next day try to find my posts in any of those areas, but often times they are buried by new posts. So time does matter. Write questions you're passionate about. But be careful, some people like to shoot down people who are passionate. My hobbies, animals, and job-related topics are doing the best. My niche ones don't do very well, but I broaden them and they do better. Like gathering wild foods, I broadened it to harvesting wild and garden foods. You have to be broad and general in a way, but interesting enough and different enough for people to respond. Lately, I think lots of topics are going "thud." Sometimes no matter what question I write, nothing. Other times, I think these are dumb and won't be responded to and they take off like wildfire. So who knows. Hope I helped you a little alamode. Take care

You absolutely helped... thanks so much! I DID post this morning... I took a 'day off' yesterday to get out into the world and it cleared my mind a bit. I believe I go off-pace too often, and need just to ask questions off the top of my head... those ARE the things I really want to know! Take care!

Anytime you can post a discussion is best. That is what is so great about MyLot. It is open 24 hours a day , 7 days a week.I have posted in the afternoon, evening and in the middle of the night and I have gotten responses. Are you placing your discussions under your interests? That helps anyone find your post.

Yes, I am putting them under my interests. But I have noticed that in my friends lists, the new topics in my time period bury the topics from my friends in another time period unless I go back pages. So time periods do play a role in who gets to see them and when. A discussion you start today can be buried by other discussion starters by tomorrow.
