Despite having a bad cold, Pope Benedict XVI visited Austria for a few days and he celebrated mass in the Stefandom in Vienna on Friday 7th and the Mariazell Basilica on Saturday 8th. Mariazell mass was attended by more than 30,000 visitors who came from all around Austria and neighbouring countries, like Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The Pope was greeted by cold weather and heavy rain, which even flooded some areas and his planned helicopter trip needed to be cancelled because of heavy wind. Despite the wbad eather, pilgrims came to see him and they were provided with colourful rain jackets for the occasion.
