Our cat eat the plants

Our cat started eating our live plant and then he vomits. I started putting the plant in the office and shutting the door at night and whenever we're not home but I'm wondering if there's any other solutions. I should also mention, the plant sits on top of a wide mouth vase that is home to a beta fish.

I find that when I grow cat grass for the kitties, they are a lot less destructive towards the other plants.

Is it something I can grow indoors? I'd be interested in learning more about this plant

Cats that go outside regularly eat grass and plants. Some plants contain medicinal properties that they need to settle any upset stomachs or other illnesses. They know which are the right ones to eat. So it could be, that if your cat is an indoor cat, he does not feel well, and needs some of this medicinal green stuff, but this plant is the only living green thing he can get close to. However, if he goes outside but still eats the plant it could be that it is toxic, but he likes the taste of it, - somewhat like a person with an allergy, who still gets cravings for the food stuff they are allergic to. If I were you, I wuld keep the plabt right away from him. If he still vomits without eating it, then chances are he does have a stomach ailment that will require vetinerary attention, but if it all clears up, then I feel you will have to get rid of the plant.

Yes, he's an indoor cat and you could be right. He might be self-medicating and that's the only living plant we have inside so his choices are limited in that regard.

That's a interesting thing.I think every animal has their own habit which is formed in a special enviroment. You mention that the plants sits on top of a wide mouth vase that is home to beta fish may verify it.

It's been 4 months and the cat never attempted to go near it. I think maybe he's trying to get at the fish and the only way is to try and get the plant out of the way.....I'm speculating of course.
