Is summer over where you live? How do you feel about it?

Summer at the beach - Summer is over in Boston!

Here in Boston summer is definitely over! I always have mixed feelings about it because the weather here in Boston is so horrible no matter what season it is. Last week we had two scorching hot days and then it went into like 50 degree weather. I never know if I should take out my ac or leave it in the window. I also never know what to wear because the weather can change so fast. I definitely don't like snow and every year I hope we don't have a very snowy winter. Actually we have been lucky the last few years and haven't had as much as we used to. How do you feel when summer is over? Do you look forward to the winter weather or does it always make you feel sad?

In the UK we are still waiting for our summer to arrive :-) We have had the worst summer since records began, with torrential rainstorms, floods, high winds, cold and grey skies. I am hoping that we will get a couple of weeks of warm weather but I suspect the will probably get more of the same throughout the winter months. I find it very depressing to to honest, I need to have some warm and sunny weather to cheer me up

I've a few friends here on myLot from the UK that say the same thing. In Minnesota USA I've had my share of rain and flooding as well. Not as bad as some other areas like the UK though. Sunny and cold works for me too in the winter. The sun cheers anyone up most times. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Same thing here in Minneapolis Minnesota. Yesterday I had the furnace on it was so chilly. It dropped into the low 40's last night. Might even get some frost this week yet they say. I doubt it as I am still fairly close to the city. But the shorts are gone for a bit & the jackets, sweaters, hoodies are back out for warmth. As it isMinnesota I wait till October or later to store the ac as we do get the 90's into October at times. So I am expecting a few more hot days here next week maybe.I like the winter a lot. The only thing I hate is when it's very cold and no snow on the ground. That just doesn't seem right to me. Other than missing my gardening chores I don't miss summer at this time. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yeah the winters here can be deadly and unbearable. Sometimes we have gotten so much snow that the city shuts down because noone can drive the roads. We have gotten over 2 feet of snow in a 12 hour period before. We can also get down to 30 to 40 below zero. That's so cold that if you breathe through your mouth saliva can freeze before it leaves your mouth. But I also love it here. Luckily the temps don't get that bad too often. Lat year i think the coldest we got was only 25 below zero. Now go to Canada. Ugghhh! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I've heard a lot about Minnesota winters and I don't think I would trade with you. They seem to get even worse than here in Boston. I'm sure you miss the gardening in the winter but I bet your planning what you will do next year during the winter months.

I wish summer was over in Maryland. We're still up in the 70's and 80's. I HATE the heat and I can't wait until it cools down and I can wear hoodies to no avail! I'm not a big fan of snow, because I still have to get out and drive and go to work (in the 5 years I've been at my job, we've only ever closed ONCE due to a snow storm and that's because we were in a "state of emergency". We opened late one day last year. but yeah, we never close.) but if I didn't have to go to work i'd love a snow day. I love the winter! That's when the best holidays come!

The weather here the past few yrs has been really nutty...I mean last October we had a blizzard for crying out loud :-/ IN THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH! it was nuts! I'm glad summer is over simply because my kids are back at school and I have the house to myself finally after a very busy, hectic and draining few months :-/ BUT I'm not looking forward to the cold bitter months either cause my body goes through some serious pain more often than not these days :-(

I think having the kids go back to school is the best part of the end of summer for most parents!

I'm definitely into dressing in layers as they say for the winter weather. I always hate it but it has to be done to keep warm.

I am actually starting to miss it already. The temperature has certainly dropped over the last couple of days and we have had a bit of rain here too. My husband still has the AC on and I freeze at night. When he is fast asleep I get up and turn it off or down low or else I sleep with a thick duvet. I don't like the AC even if it is hot. I love the heat! I am not looking forward to winter at all! I don't like the cold period, so I know I am going to suffer no matter what. As for my husband and son, they love the cold!I hope we get to use the gas fire a lot more than we did last winter!

I'm not looking forward to it either. The last few nights I had to close my windows and I still woke up in the middle of the night freezing and needing a blanket.

I will be relieved to see fall come in, ctry. This summer has been miserably hot and I welcome the cooler weather of fall. Where I live in Ohio is much too snowy for me. I grew up in the south where we did not get much snow. Even after all the years I've been back in Ohio, I still don't like the cold and snow. I probably would have left years ago but for the fact that most of my family lives here. Winter always seems to be a period of slowing down after the hectic pace of summer. That is all good to me.

I don't know about the "slowing down"...since now all the holidays are going to be here. That's one of the aspects of winter that I don't like.

You're not that far from me so we're probably experiencing the same type of weather. I also appreciate the crisp, cool air until it turns into frigid, cold air then I'm not so happy.

I try to "stay in the moment" because I like Fall. I don't worry about snow as much as I worry about sleet, hail, ice, and sub-zero weather. Those are the things I pray we don't get. Snow I can walk on with snow-shoes. Snow I can shovel. But that Ice Storm in 1998, unless you have ice skates and are good at standing up and chains on your tires.... But sub-zero, without snow piled up around your house, the pipes can freeze and some can burst. Some years we have all that stuff. I like a mild winter, too. But snow is the least of my problems. Yes, the weather has been crazy. I start out with lots of layers and by afternoon, some days, I look crazy because I'm not is shorts and a t-shirt. Other days, it's reversed. 40 degree differences in 24 hours has been nothing this year.

I just hate snow and freezing weather and that's all there is to it. You are so right about freezing pipes and all that goes with it.

In our country summer is still 5 months away from now. We actually have 3 months of summer but at the moment it's rainy season here. We don't have winter here, but I'd like to experience having winter and it's impossible to have winter in our country as we are in a tropical country so we enjoy more swimming in the beach, surfing and sun bathing.

If you haven't experienced winter be thankful...lol. Depending on where you live they can be treacherous and very uncomfortable. I hate the heat but I don't mind swimmin in the ocean to cool off.

Here in the Hudson valley, summer is beginning to wind down, not we are not getting heat and humidity during the day - which I hate - anything much over 75 is way too hot for me. But the nights are nice for sleeping. We don't need fans or anything to help us say cool enough to sleep. I love the snow, it makes the wold look for fresh and new and clean. If only it could stay that way.

It would be sooooo nice if the snow could always stay white and shiny wouldn't it? It's too bad it has to get all yucky from cars and the environment.

Summer id definetly winding down here in Ohio. Last week we had temps in the 90's. Today it is supposed to be in the 60's. I love the cooler temps. I really love snow too. I'm hoping for a very snowy winter this year. I dont mind summer leaving since the Autumn is so beautiful. I love the trees changing colors and that crisp Fall smell you get in the air.

Hello! I'm here in the middle east and summer here is bloody HOT! as in...this year is hotter than last year. There are days that it's hot and humid and I hate going out. We leave the ac on all day and still it's hot. I honestly can't wait for winter weather, although there's no snow here, well at least it'll be colder. What I really miss is the rain. It rains here once in a blue moon. Have a great day *smile* ciao! =)

Hi Ctrymuziklvr, I live in Southern Illinois, and today we had a perfect day! 77 Degrees! Aaah finally I can open my windows and enjoy some fresh air. I hate being too hot, so I must run my AC only I just hate how stuffy it gets with it on day in and day out. Im hoping this weather will stick and I can keep my windows open until there is need for heat. Even then Im not looking forward to turning that on either. I wish it would just stay between 75 and 80 degrees around here, I would be happy!! Winter time does make me sad, its really dreary and like you I dont look forward to any amount of snow. Even though it is a really pretty site I just hate to deal with it. Its messy and folks just dont know how to drive in it! lol I enjoy the fall so I dont mind when summer is over, but after a long cold winter Im looking forward to the summer and all the activities your able to do outdoors. xx

I live in Manchester, England and we have had the strangest summer i remember!Late spring it was suprisingly warm and then it all went to pot! We have had disasterous floods and hundreds of people's homes were destroyed. Luckily my family and friends weren't affected. Don't get me wrong in between we have had a bit of sun but overall its been quite depressing! So the end of official summer isn't really affecting me as it never really got summery!

Here in Belgium I don't know how you will call this season. They said it was summer before but we still need to wear thick clothes if we want to go out in the night. And now I think it's over already, since in the night the temperature can be 10 degree, and in the day it's about 16 or 18 degree. So I guess it's no longer summer time, right? Feel a bit weird, since last year it was the other way around. In October I still can sit out side in the night without jacket at all doing barbeque with my husband.
